    摘要： A machine for the mechanical restoration of papers and documents comprises a housing having a chamber, a screen over the upper end of the chamber for receiving the documents to be restored, a suction pump applying a vacuum to the lower face of the screen, a well overlying the screen for containing a mixture of water and the paper-restoring composition, and a hold-down member overlying the screen and movable through the well from an operative position pressing against the upper face of the document to hold it firmly against the upper face of the screen. The hold-down member is pivotable to an inoperative position, disengaged from the document and includes water-directing channels for directing the liquid adhering thereto to drain to its sides and then to the sides of the well rather than to drip downwardly onto the document in the middle of the well.

THE NEW COMPOUNDS SHOWED A VARIETY OF BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS PROLONGED HYPOTENSION WHEN INJECTED INTO CATS WHICH WERE ANESTHETIZED WITH NEMBUTAL.

    摘要： The present invention relates to a collector adapted to concentrate solar energy onto a photoelectric cell comprising in combination at least one glass plate doped with a substance resulting in fluorescence when said plate is irradiated by sunlight, a photoelectric cell being attached to a lateral side of the plate, the other lateral edges of the plate being provided with a reflective coating, said cell having a high efficiency in the range of wavelength of the fluorescent radiation.A plurality of such glass plates can be stacked one upon the other, each doped to absorb at a predetermined region of the spectrum and to fluoresce in a region where a certain photocell is sensitive.A fluorescent dye in a suitable carrier can be applied as a surface layer on such glass plates, and this improves the overall efficiency of the collector.

    摘要： Improved in vitro test method and apparatus for assessing thyroid function comprising mixing a microquantity of blood serum with a predetermined amount of a radioactive isotope tagged thyroid hormone solution in the upper portion of a tubular body having a fixed geometry, said body containing a column of predetermined quantity of cross linked dextran gel as a secondary binding site in an aqueous fluid held between porous discs in the lower portion of the body and having valve means at the lower end thereof, allowing said mixture to enter said column, determining the total added thyroid hormone by a radioactivity measurement, washing or eluting said column with a suitable fluid, determining the amount of hormone retained in said column by a radioactivity measurement and making a calculation based on the ratio of the amount of retained hormone to the total amount of added hormone for the particular thyroid hormone being assessed.
