Disclosed herein is a system and method that facilitate searching and/or browsing of images by clustering, or grouping, the images into a set of image clusters using facets, such as without limitation visual properties or visual characteristics, of the images, and representing each image cluster by a representative image selected for the image cluster. A map-reduce based probabilistic topic model may be used to identify one or more images belonging to each image cluster and update model parameters.
Abstract:
Method, systems, and computer-readable for selectively sharing media among two or more client devices. Initially, media (e.g., image(s), video, audio, text, etc.) can be rendered via a first client device. Portions of the media rendered on a first client device can be selectively encoded, thereby masking the selectively encoded portions. The media can then be shared, including the encoded portions, with a second client device. Using the first client device, an operation can be implemented for authorizing decoding of the portions of the media by the second client device, thereby allowing the decoded portions of the media to be rendered by the second client device without masking.

A method for adjusting one or more parameters associated with a model. The method comprises obtaining, from a first source, first information related to activity of a user. The method further comprises adjusting one or more parameters associated with a model based on the first information collected within a first length of time, and obtaining, from a second source, second information related to activity of the user. The method further comprises adjusting the one or more parameters associated with the model based on the second information collected within a second length of time and a measure indicative of performance of the model, wherein the second length of time is larger than the first length of time.

Method, system, and programs for estimating interests of a plurality of users with respect to a new piece of information are disclosed. In one example, historical interests of the plurality of users are obtained with respect to one or more existing pieces of information. One or more users are selected from the plurality of users. Historical interests of the one or more users can minimize an objective function over the plurality of users. Interests of the one or more users are obtained with respect to the new piece of information. Estimated interests of the plurality of users are generated with respect to the new piece of information based on the obtained interests of the one or more users.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for using features of images representing content items to improve the presentation of the content items are disclosed. In one embodiment, a plurality of digital images are obtained, where each of the images represents a corresponding one of a plurality of content items. Image features of each of the digital images are determined. Additional features including at least one of user features pertaining to a user of a client device or contextual features pertaining to the client device are ascertained. At least a portion of the content items are provided via a network to the client device using features that include or are derived from both the image features of each of the plurality of digital images and the additional features.
