Abstract:
A system, apparatus and method for utilizing one-time, or temporary, “credit” card information for executing purchase transactions with a smart card or similar electronic data card device. The card is activated in an activation process with the issuer prior to receiving and utilizing temporary card information (numbers). Retrieval and submission of temporary card information is performed in an automatic process executed by application programming, such as within a web browser. By way of example, a user surfing the web commences a purchase transaction wherein their smart card communicates with the issuer of the smart card to retrieve one-time or temporary use card data which is submitted through the network for processing within the transaction. In one embodiment the programming is executed within a web browser which marks card data fields within transaction forms and automatically fills these fields with temporary card information received from the issuer.
Abstract:
A network architecture for a network of electronic devices includes a device layer having a plurality of electronic devices interconnected using a network backbone, wherein the plurality of electronic devices each operate using a device native communication protocol. The architecture also includes a device abstraction layer (DAL) which communicates with each of the devices using the device native communication protocols and also presents a unified communication interface to a content abstraction program interface. The content abstraction program interface communicates with the device layer through the unified communication interface of the DAL and includes a set of content services for controlling content on the network. In one embodiment the content abstraction program interface includes a content location system (CLS), a content change notification system (CCNS), and a content engagement system (CES).
Abstract:
A virtual device control module for interfacing with a target device is disclosed. A DCM (device control module) is operable for interfacing with the target device, wherein the DCM includes a first FCM (function control module) and a second FCM operable for controlling respective first and second functional components of the target device. The first FCM can be a physical FCM operable for controlling the operation of the first functional component, and the second FCM can be a virtual FCM operable for controlling the operation of a second functional component.
Abstract:
A method of extracting a depth map from known camera and tracking data. The method includes the steps of positioning a virtual camera at the coordinates of the tracked camera, setting the field of view to that of the tracked camera, positioning and orienting a synthetic tracked object to the coordinates of the tracked object, clearing the depth buffer and rendering the tracked object as a depth map.
Abstract:
The invention illustrates a system and method of searching for a specific segment within a stream of content data comprising: receiving a stream of sensory data corresponding with the stream of content data; comparing the stream of sensory data with a search criteria; identifying the specific segment of the stream of content data corresponding to a match between the stream sensory data and the search criteria; setting the search criteria based upon parameters of the stream of sensory data; and applying a threshold to determine the match between the stream of sensory data and the search criteria.
Abstract:
In a first embodiment of the present invention, a method of interpreting a situation of a user of an electronic device is provided, comprising: gathering social data related to the user; monitoring one or more physical sensors on the electronic device in order to gather physical data related to the user; mapping structured data in the social data and the physical data to internal data types; extracting features from unstructured social data; identifying attributes related to the features; obtaining values for the identified attributes; interpreting movement of the user by examining the physical data; and detecting a situation of the user by fusing the movement of the user with the identified attributes of the features of the unstructured social data and features of structured social data.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for managing video contents includes collecting a plurality of keywords related to a topic, the keywords being collected using at least one dynamic data source. One or more sub-topics of the topic are identified using the keywords collected. A topic node in a taxonomy of topics is built, the topic node including a topic identifier for the topic, a child topic identifier for the sub-topics identified, and a keyword section for one or more of the keywords collected. A plurality of videos is organized using the topic node built to assist a user in locating a video of interest.

Abstract:
A content management server is provided. The content management server includes at least one relay element to identify media content and media players within a network and acquire content characteristic information from the media content and media player characteristic information from the media players. A database stores the content characteristic information and the media player characteristic information. A processor performs a compatibility test, based on the content characteristic information and the media player characteristic information, to determine whether selected media content is playable on any of the media players and to indicate a result of the compatibility test via a user interface.
Abstract:
The invention illustrates a system and method of processing an instrumentation data stream comprising: a sensor for generating an instrumentation data stream; a data collector configured for receiving the instrumentation data stream; and a normalization module configured for formatting portions of the instrumentation data stream into a common standard.
