Abstract: An apparatus and method for encoding and decoding using view synthesis prediction are provided. The apparatus synthesizes imagers corresponding to peripheral views of a current view, and encodes current blocks included in an image of the current view by a currently defined encoding mode or an encoding mode related to virtual view synthesis prediction, according to a coding unit.
