    Abstract: In an aspect, a liquid crystal display is provided. The liquid crystal display may include a substrate, a thin film transistor disposed on the substrate, a pixel electrode connected to one terminal of the thin film transistor, a roof layer disposed to face the pixel electrode, and a capping layer disposed on the roof layer, in which a microcavity having a liquid crystal injection hole is formed between the pixel electrode and the roof layer, the microcavity forms a liquid crystal layer including a liquid crystal molecule, and the capping layer covers the liquid crystal injection hole and includes a water-soluble polymer material.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display including a first substrate on which a plurality of first pixels are defined, a first pixel electrode arranged for each of the first pixels on the first substrate, a second substrate arranged opposite the first substrate, a third substrate arranged on the second substrate and on which a plurality of second pixels are defined, a second pixel electrode arranged for each of the second pixels on the third substrate, and a fourth substrate arranged opposite the third substrate. Each of the first pixels has a first domain and each of the second pixels has a second domain, and a direction of the first domain of the first pixels and a direction of the second domain of the second pixels are different from each other.

    Abstract: A backlight unit includes a first substrate, a plurality of LED chips on one surface of the first substrate and configured to emit light of a first color, a second substrate located opposite to the one surface of the first substrate, and a plurality of light modulation patterns on one surface of the second substrate facing the one surface of the first substrate so as to overlap the plurality of LED chips, respectively. Each of the plurality of light modulation patterns includes a first wavelength conversion pattern that converts the light of the first color into light of a second color. The first wavelength conversion pattern includes a first wavelength conversion layer on the one surface of the second substrate, a first organic encapsulation layer on the first wavelength conversion layer, and a barrier structure covering the first wavelength conversion layer and the first organic encapsulation layer.

    Abstract: A display device according to an exemplary embodiment includes: a substrate; a thin film transistor; a pixel electrode; a common electrode; an insulation layer disposed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode; a roof layer spaced apart from the pixel electrode with a plurality of microcavities disposed therebetween; and a liquid crystal layer disposed in the microcavities; wherein the pixel electrode includes n branch electrodes that extend parallel with each other, a first connection electrode that connects a first end of a first branch electrode and a first end of a second branch electrode, and a second connection electrode that connects second ends of the n branch electrodes, where the n branch electrodes each has a shape that is bent at least once on a plan view, and the first branch electrode includes a first sub-branch electrode and a second sub-branch that are spaced apart from each other.

    Abstract: Embodiments provide a display device including: a thin film transistor disposed on an insulation substrate including a plurality of pixels; a common electrode and a pixel electrode disposed on the thin film transistor to overlap each other while interposing an insulating layer therebetween; a liquid crystal layer filling microcavities differentiated by pixel electrodes, the pixel electrodes comprising the pixel electrode; and a roof layer that is disposed on a microcavity of the microcavities and includes an injection hole extending to the microcavity and a supporting member to support the microcavity; and an optical member disposed on the supporting member, wherein the injection hole is disposed between adjacent microcavities in a column direction, and the supporting member is disposed between adjacent microcavities in a row direction. Total reflection of light, bad alignment, and light leakage which may occur in the display device may be prevented by the optical member.
