    Abstract: A display device may include an insulating layer. The display device may further include a first field-generating electrode that overlaps the insulating layer. The display device may further include a second field-generating electrode that overlaps the first field-generating electrode and has a cutout. An exposed portion of the insulating layer may be exposed through the cutout and may be exposed between an edge (or boundary) of the first field-generating electrode and an end portion of the second field-generating electrode in a layout view of the display device.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display including a first substrate on which a plurality of first pixels are defined, a first pixel electrode arranged for each of the first pixels on the first substrate, a second substrate arranged opposite the first substrate, a third substrate arranged on the second substrate and on which a plurality of second pixels are defined, a second pixel electrode arranged for each of the second pixels on the third substrate, and a fourth substrate arranged opposite the third substrate. Each of the first pixels has a first domain and each of the second pixels has a second domain, and a direction of the first domain of the first pixels and a direction of the second domain of the second pixels are different from each other.

    Abstract: A backlight unit includes a first substrate, a plurality of LED chips on one surface of the first substrate and configured to emit light of a first color, a second substrate located opposite to the one surface of the first substrate, and a plurality of light modulation patterns on one surface of the second substrate facing the one surface of the first substrate so as to overlap the plurality of LED chips, respectively. Each of the plurality of light modulation patterns includes a first wavelength conversion pattern that converts the light of the first color into light of a second color. The first wavelength conversion pattern includes a first wavelength conversion layer on the one surface of the second substrate, a first organic encapsulation layer on the first wavelength conversion layer, and a barrier structure covering the first wavelength conversion layer and the first organic encapsulation layer.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes: a first substrate; a first electrode on the first substrate, and a plurality of first cutouts defined in the first electrode; an insulating layer on the first electrode; a second electrode on the insulating layer, a plurality of second cutouts defined in the second electrode, and a plurality of branch electrodes defined by the plurality of second cutouts; a second substrate facing the first substrate; and a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. The second cutouts have a linear shape which extends in a length direction, widths of the plurality of first cutouts is larger than that of the plurality of branch electrodes in a width direction crossing the length direction, and the second cutouts overlap the plurality of first cutouts, in the length direction.
