    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display panel including a plurality of pixels, and a driver which receives input image data, generates final image data by compensating the input image data to increase luminances of pixels disposed in at least one edge portion of the display panel among the plurality of pixels, and drives the display panel based on the final image data. The input image data for a pixel of the pixels is compensated based on a compensation constant determined according to a position of the pixel when the input image data for the pixel represents a gray level higher than or equal to a first reference gray level, and is compensated based on a reduced compensation constant that is reduced from the determined compensation constant when the input image data for the pixel represents the gray level lower than the first reference gray level.

The gate driving circuit sequentially drives K-th, (K+2)-th, (K+4)-th, (K+12)-th, (K+14)-th, (K+16)-th, (K+24)-th, . . . , (N−11)-th, (N−9)-th, and (N−7)-th gate lines during a first subframe period, (K+6)-th, (K+8)-th, (K+10)-th, (K+18)-th, (K+20)-th, (K+22)-th, (K+30)-th, . . . , (N−5)-th, (N−3)-th, and (N−1)-th gate lines during a second subframe period, (K+1)-th, (K+3)-th, (K+5)-th, (K+13)-th, (K+15)-th, (K+17)-th, (K+25)-th, . . . , (N−10)-th, (N−8)-th, and (N−6)-th gate lines during a third subframe period, and (K+7)-th, (K+9)-th, (K+11)-th, (K+19)-th, (K+21)-th, (K+23)-th, (K+31)-th, . . . , (N−4)-th, (N−2)-th, and N-th gate lines during a fourth subframe period. The data driving circuit drives the M data lines by outputting data signals to the M data lines.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a first row including first, second, and third first-color pixels; a second row including fourth, fifth, and sixth first-color pixels; and a third row including seventh, eighth, and ninth first-color pixels. The first, fourth, and seventh first-color pixels are aligned. The second, fifth, and eighth first-color pixels are aligned. The third, sixth, and ninth first-color pixels are aligned. The second first-color pixel is disposed between the first and third first-color pixels. Each pixel electrode of the first, third, fifth, seventh, and ninth first-color pixels may receive a high voltage for a gray level. Each pixel electrode of the second, fourth, sixth, and eighth first-color pixels may receive a low voltage for a gray level lower than the high voltage for a gray level. Liquid crystal molecules in each pixel have two domain directions.
