Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a receiver including: a reception section operable to receive AV content transmitted by a broadcasting wave; a trigger acquisition section operable to acquire trigger information adapted to operate an application program to be executed in response to the received AV content; a table acquisition section operable to acquire a correlation table correlating the trigger information to commands adapted to control the operation of the application program; an application acquisition section operable to acquire, based on the acquired correlation table, the application program transmitted by the broadcasting wave when the command correlated to the trigger information indicates the acquisition of the application program; and a control section operable to control the operation of the acquired application program in accordance with the command correlated to the trigger information.
Abstract:
A method, non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, and reception apparatus for extracting metadata, and an information providing apparatus for providing the metadata. The method for extracting metadata includes processing, by circuitry of the reception apparatus, content that includes the metadata embedded therein. The metadata is embedded as a watermark in a first portion of a video frame of the content. The circuitry determines symbol values of the watermark from the video frame based on luminance values in pixels of the first portion of the video frame of the content to extract the metadata. At least one of the luminance values is less than 16.
Abstract:
A reception apparatus includes receiver and processing circuitry. The receiver circuitry is configured to receive a broadcast stream including a service list table (SLT) and a digital rights management (DRM) data service. The SLT includes service information for the DRM data service. The processing circuitry is configured to extract the service information for the DRM data service from the received broadcast stream. The service information for the DRM data service includes a DRM system identifier. The processing circuitry is configured to acquire DRM information from the DRM data service when the DRM system identifier included in the service information for the DRM data service corresponds to a DRM system that is supported by the reception apparatus.
Abstract:
Determining and hiding a replaceable period of a MP (Media Presentation). A method for determining includes receiving a first MPD (Media Presentation Description) that identifies a predetermined period and at least one media segment of the MP to be presented during the predetermined period. A determination is made as to whether the first MPD includes additional data to be resolved by an application. The additional data is provided to the application when the first MPD is determined to include the additional data. Additional period information is received from the application. A second MPD is generated based on the received additional period information. The MP is output for display to a user based on the second MPD. Each of a subset of the at least one media segment for a replaceable sub-period of the MP is replaceable with an alternate media segment.

A reception apparatus includes receiver and processing circuitry. The receiving circuitry is configured to receive a broadcast stream. The processing circuitry is configured to extract a service list table (SLT) from the broadcast stream. The SLT includes service information for each of a plurality of services in the broadcast stream. The processing circuitry is configured to determine whether the broadcast stream includes a digital rights management (DRM) service that is supported by the reception apparatus based on service category information in the service information for the plurality of services in the broadcast stream. The processing circuitry is configured to acquire DRM-related information, which is associated with the reception apparatus and delivered in the DRM service, based on a determination that the broadcast stream includes the DRM service that is supported by the reception apparatus.

Abstract:
A method of decoding closed caption disparity data, involves a TV receiver receiving closed caption disparity data for a 3D display encoded as a sequence of frame interval/slope change pairs, with the frame interval representing a designated number of frames over which each linear function representing disparity is to be applied paired with a value indicating a change in slope from the slope of a preceding segment. A first segment in the sequence presumes a predetermined slope as a reference. A sequence of caption data packets specifies a closed caption display window containing closed caption text. The disparity value is used in each frame to determine a horizontal offset of left and right eye views of the CC display that establishes the closed caption display window's perceived z-axis position. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.
Abstract:
A method of a reception apparatus for processing closed caption data. The method includes receiving, by circuitry of the reception apparatus, audio/video (A/V) content and closed caption data for a first caption service and a second caption service. The closed caption data for the first caption service includes closed caption text and the closed caption data for the second caption service includes additional data. Caption service blocks are extracted from the closed caption data for both the first caption service and the second caption service when the first caption service is to be displayed with the A/V content. The additional data included in the closed caption data for the second caption service is parsed from the caption services blocks for the second caption service. Further, a presentation of the A/V content and the closed caption text is output by the circuitry for display to a user of the reception apparatus based on the additional data parsed from the caption service blocks for the second caption service.
