Abstract: The disclosure relates to an electronic device for processing a digital key and an operation method thereof. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the electronic device for processing a digital key may include a communicator configured to communicate with an external device; a secure element (SE) configured to store the digital key and perform processing related to the digital key; a memory storing a program and data for processing the digital key; and a process configured to execute the program stored in the memory to: receive a request to process the digital key from a target device or a user application by using a digital key framework; transmit, to a digital key application of the secure element, the request to process the digital key and authentication information stored in the digital key framework; and process the digital key by using the digital key application executed in the secure element, based on the request to process the digital key, the authentication information received from the digital key framework, and authentication information stored in the secure element.

Abstract: A secure element (SE) for processing a digital key includes a communication interface for communicating with a host, a memory for storing programs and data for processing the digital key, and a processor for executing the programs stored in the memory to receive a digital key processing request from a target device, determine whether a service is providable to the target device, by using a service-provider-specific service performance manager, process the digital key by using a digital key manager based on digital key processing information stored in the memory, upon determining that a service is providable to the target device, issue a digital key processing certificate by using the service-provider-specific service performance manager based on authentication information stored in the memory, and transmit the digital key processing certificate to at least one of a service provider and the target device.

The UWB communication circuitry performs ranging with an external electronic device, receives a first UWB signal including a medium access control (MAC) header and a MAC payload from the external electronic device, and determines, based at least on MAC payload information included in the MAC payload, whether to forward information included in the MAC payload information element to the secure element.
