    Abstract: An apparatus and method for operation of an apparatus in a wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus may be a terminal, a chipset, or a base station. A terminal receives, from a base station, a configuration of a frequency band in which a reference signal is to be measured, and measures the reference signal in the corresponding frequency band. In this step, a case may occur in which the reference signal cannot be measured in the entire frequency band that has been received as a configuration. In this case, the terminal distinguishes between a case in which the reference signal can be measured in the entire frequency band that has been received as a configuration and a case in which it cannot, and reports independent channel state information to the base station.
