A method of setting retransmission time of an application client during virtual machine migration includes predicting migration memory size required by a virtual machine to be migrated based on historical access log of at least one application and memory log of the virtual machine to be migrated; computing available migration bandwidth of a host of the virtual machine to be migrated; computing virtual machine migration time based on the predicted migration memory size required by the virtual machine to be migrated and the available migration bandwidth of the host; and setting retransmission time of the application client based on the virtual machine migration time.

Abstract:
A system and a method for efficient service-instance oriented energy management in the IoT are provided. The method comprises: a predicting step for predicting target service instances to be serviced in a subsequent time period based on a service instance stance transition model; a selecting step for selecting an ON-sensor set to be turned on to provide services on which said target service instances are based, according to a critical covering set corresponding to the target service instances, the use history data of sensors in the critical covering set and energy parameters of said sensors; a controlling step for performing, when said time period begins, an ON/OFF control on the sensors in the IoT so that the sensors in the ON-sensor set are turned on and the sensors other than those in the ON-sensor set are turned off; and an updating step for updating the use history data of sensors according to the usage of sensors in said time period.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus of controlling subscription requests, which can be used in a publish/subscribe engine. The method includes parsing a received subscription request into a predicate expression; determining an occurrence probability of the subscription request based on occurrence probabilities of predicates in the predicate expression; estimating a message increment to be caused by the subscription request based on a message publishing rate associated with the subscription request and on the occurrence probability of the subscription request; and controlling a quality of service of messages based on the estimated message increment.
Abstract:
Methods and a system are provided that is performed by a computer server for inferring location context categories for a set of mobile users having at least two members. A method includes, for each mobile user in the set, obtaining at least one location context category therefor from publically available information responsive to uncertain mobile device location data. The method further includes applying multi-user collaborative machine learning to the at least one location context category for each mobile user in the set to infer a single refined location context category for each mobile user in the set.

In response to a map task distributed by a job tracker, a map task tracker executes the map task to generate a map output including version information. The map task tracker stores the generated map outputs. The map task tracker informs the job tracker of related information of the map output. In response to a reduce task distributed by the job tracker, the reduce task tracker acquires the map outputs for key names including given version information from the map task trackers, wherein the acquired map outputs include the map outputs with the given version information and historical map outputs with the version information prior to the given version information. The reduce task tracker executes the reduce task on the acquired map outputs.

A method and system for processing a message and subscription information is provided. Subscription information is obtained and parsed into a first set of predicates, whereby these predicates are not repetitive. One or more tree structures for the predicates and the subscription information are constructed based on possibilities of the predicates in hitting a message. The possibility of the predicate for a lower internal node in the tree structure hitting the message is higher than that of an upper internal node. Each of the subscription information corresponds to one leaf node in one tree structure, and each of the subscription information corresponds to all information of the predicates in a branch of the leaf node in the tree structure thereof from the root node. The one or more tree structures for matching with the message are stored.

A method for assisting query comprises acquiring a record that includes a unique identification and at least one piece of dimension information associated with the unique identification, wherein each piece of dimension information includes a sequence of attributes, each attribute being ordered in the sequence in accordance with a hierarchically progressive relation; calculating a hash value for an attribute pair comprising attributes of every two neighboring levels; and storing, in association with the hash value, the unique identification in at least one storage device. A method for querying comprises receiving a query; calculating one or more hash values; in response to the one or more hash values matching stored hash values in at least one storage device; deriving an intersection of unique identifications that are stored in association with the matched stored hash values; and returning at least one unique identification included in the intersection as a query result.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided. The method includes converting, by a computer having a processor and a memory, categorical sequence data for a customer journey into a numerical similarity matrix. The method further includes learning, by the computer, features of the customer journey by applying a distance metric learning based matrix factorization approach to the numerical similarity matrix.
