    Abstract: Provided are an image processing device and a method for operating the same, and an endoscope processor device and a method for operating the same that accurately measure the blood vessel depth of blood vessels in an observation target. A data set including a plurality of items of measurement data in which blood vessel index values, such as blood vessel contrast and a plurality of blood vessel index value variation factors including the blood vessel depth are associated with each other is stored in a data set storage unit 97. A specific blood vessel index value variation factor other than the blood vessel depth is measured. The data set is narrowed to a sub-data set having the specific blood vessel index value variation factor. A blood vessel depth corresponding to a blood vessel index value calculated by the blood vessel index value calculation unit is found from the sub-data set.

    Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an image processing method and an image processing apparatus that make it possible to efficiently learn images having different identities. In learning and recognition using a hierarchical network, it is known that, based on experiences, a layer near the input functions as a feature extractor for extracting a feature that is necessary for recognition, and a layer near the output performs recognition by combining extracted features. Thus, performing learning by setting a higher learning rate to a layer near the input side of the hierarchical network than a learning rate in a layer near the output side in second learning processing as in an aspect of the present invention corresponds to mainly relearning (adjusting) a feature extraction portion in data sets having different identities. Accordingly, the difference between data sets can be absorbed, and learning can be performed more efficiently than in the case of simply performing transfer learning.

    Abstract: An image processing apparatus according to a first aspect of the present invention acquires a first image and a second image in a first image acquisition mode, or a second image acquisition mode in which a second image acquisition ratio is higher than in the first image acquisition mode, on the basis of a detection result of a specific target (whether or not a specific target has been detected, what type of specific target). For example, in accordance with whether or not a specific target has been detected and the type of specific target, the first image and the second image can be acquired in the first image acquisition mode in a case where the necessity for acquiring the second image is low, whereas the first image and the second image can be acquired in the second image acquisition mode, in which the second image acquisition ratio is high, in a case where the necessity for acquiring the second image is high.

    Abstract: There are provided an image processing apparatus, an endoscope system, and an image processing method for assisting diagnosis more effectively by calculating more intuitive and useful information than blood vessel information for a specific submucosal depth. An image processing apparatus includes a processor configured to function as an image acquisition unit that acquires an endoscope image, a blood vessel extraction unit that extracts a blood vessel at a specific depth of the observation target from the endoscope image, a blood vessel information calculation unit that calculates blood vessel information regarding the blood vessel extracted by the blood vessel extraction unit, and a blood vessel parameter calculation unit that calculates a blood vessel parameter, which is relevant to the blood vessel at the specific depth, by calculation using the blood vessel information.
