Abstract: Disclosed is a slice connection method of an optical access network and an optical access network system for slice connection. A slice connection method performed by an optical network unit (ONU) of an optical access network system may include determining a service type of a host device transmitting a service connection request, determining a slice based on the service type, sending a request for connection to the slice to an optical line terminal (OLT), and relaying data transmission and reception between the OLT and the host device when a slice connection response corresponding to the request is received from the OLT.

Abstract: An optical network unit (ONU) for optical transmission in a burst mode includes an electro-absorption modulated laser (EML) transmitter including a laser diode (LD) and configured to transmit an uplink optical signal through the LD, an electro-absorption modulator (EAM) driver integrated circuit (IC) (EAM driver IC) configured to amplify an uplink data signal and provide the amplified data signal to the EML transmitter, an LD burst-mode driving circuit configured to control an operation of turning on or off the LD based on a burst-enable signal, and a media access control (MAC) configured to transmit the data signal to the EAM driver IC and transmit the burst-enable signal to the LD burst-mode driving circuit.

Abstract: A burst-mode optical amplification apparatus and method is provided. The burst-mode optical amplification apparatus includes a gain saturation signal generator configured to generate a gain saturation signal for gain stabilization based on an incoming input optical signal; a wavelength multiplexer configured to wavelength multiplex the incoming input optical signal and the gain saturation signal; and an optical amplifier configured to amplify both the wavelength-multiplexed input optical signal and the wavelength-multiplexed gain saturation signal. The apparatus may further include a time delay module configured to synchronize the input optical signal and the gain saturation signal by delaying the transmission time of the input optical signal, taking into consideration the processing time needed by the gain saturation signal generator to generate the gain saturation signal.
