Abstract: User-friendly attachment mechanisms for pen needles provide improved handling and ease of use, including locking installation and removal features and sensory feedback when a needle-bearing hub is seated on a pen. Embodiments include a needle-bearing hub includes a circumferentially oriented flexible tab that engages a radially inward rib on an outer cover to assist in attaching a pen device to the pen needle.

Abstract: A magazine (16) that stores a plurality of needles (56) configured to engage a medication pen (2) for medication delivery, the magazine (16) comprising a magazine housing (32, 70) enclosing a removable array (26) that is rotatable in the magazine housing (32, 70), the removable array (26) supporting a plurality of hub chambers (22) each enclosing one of a plurality of needle hubs (50), the plurality of hub chambers (22) being radially disposed, a connector (28) in each of the plurality of hub chambers (22), each connector (28) engages one of the plurality of needle hubs (50), and a plurality of closures (30) each sealing the plurality of needle hubs (50), wherein a selected closure of the plurality of closures (30) is pierced by the medication pen (2) to engage a selected needle hub (52) of the plurality of needle hubs (50), the selected needle hub (52) disengages from the hub chamber (24), and the selected needle hub (52) is removed from the magazine housing (32, 70) to prepare the medication pen (2) for medication delivery.

Abstract: The subject invention provides a safety pen needle assembly which includes: a hub; a needle carrier; a needle fixed to the needle carrier; a shield; and, a first engageable locking arrangement for fixing the shield to the needle carrier. Upon a predetermined extent of distal movement of the shield relative to the hub, the first locking arrangement is engaged such that the shield becomes fixed to the needle carrier. Upon further distal movement of the shield relative to the hub beyond the predetermined extent of distal movement, the shield and the needle carrier move in concert together relative to the hub causing a proximal end of the needle to move distally relative to the hub to a retracted state. Advantageously, the subject invention provides a reliable, low-cost safety pen needle assembly which does not require a spring or other biasing element.

Abstract: An apparatus for entirely removing a medical sharp from a holder to which it is connected, including a body (102), a heating unit (104) disposed in the body, a receiving unit (114) fixedly disposed in the body and configured to receive the holder, and a collet (122) movably disposed within the body and configured to receive the medical sharp. The apparatus also includes a first biasing member (130) disposed within the body, and a user interface (136) coupled to the collet and configured to displace the collet away from the receiving unit, actuate the first biasing member to increase a bias on the collet toward the receiving unit, and actuate the heating unit.
