Abstract:
Some embodiments of the invention provide a GUI for a media editing application that provides visual cues (e.g., colors and/or lane sets) for media clips that are assigned different tags (or roles) in a media presentation. The GUI of the media application of some embodiments displays media clips of a composite media presentation, in which at least some of the media clips are associated with tags. The GUI also provides GUI controls for associating media clips associated with different tags with different colors and for displaying the media clips based on the clips' associated color. In some embodiments, the GUI includes a tool for arranging clips into groups based on assigned tags. The tool of some embodiments, upon selection, defines a set of lanes for each tag and displays any anchored clip that is associated with a tag in the set of lanes associated with the tag.

Abstract:
Systems, methods, apparatuses and non-transitory, computer-readable storage mediums are disclosed for a media editing application with an anchored timeline for editing captions and subtitles. In an embodiment, a method comprises: causing to display on a display device, by one or more hardware processors executing a media editing application, a graphical user interface (GUI) including a timeline; causing to display on the timeline, by the one or more hardware processors, a first lane including a media object; causing to display on the timeline, by the one or more hardware processors, a second lane including a caption or subtitle object; and anchoring, by the one or more hardware processors, the media object to the caption or subtitle object in the timeline.
Abstract:
Some embodiments provide a method for editing a composite presentation in a media-editing application. The method receives a media file to import into the media-editing application from an external device. The method creates a set of media clip data structures to represent the media file. At least one of the data structures references the media file on the external device. Before the media file is imported from the external device, the method uses the media clip data structure to edit a composite presentation with the media file. After the media file is imported from the external device, automatically modifying the data structure to refer to a copy of the media file on a local device.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for storing and displaying information about the capture and/or transfer of digital media is provided, wherein data is stored such that a visual representation indicating characteristics of video data, such as whether portions of the video data have been transferred to another device or captured to a storage device, may be generated and displayed.
