    Abstract: Method for characterization of paths travelled by mobile user terminals, comprising: determining a geographical area of interest; detecting the presence of a plurality of mobile user terminals in said geographical area of interest. The method further comprises, for each of said mobile user terminals: receiving over time a plurality of information signals, each information signal including: a geographical position of said mobile user terminal, a time reference associated with said geographical position and at least one of a temporary identifier and a session identifier; based on said information signals, determining a path travelled by said mobile user terminal; calculating one or more indicators associated with said path, said one or more indicators being indicative of morphologic and dynamic features of said path; providing a characterization of said paths, based on said one or more indicators.

    Abstract: A receiver adapted to receive a modulated signal including useful and interfering signals and to detect information bits carried thereon. The modulated signal comprises signal components each one associated with a respective modulation subcarrier and including respective useful and interfering signal components. The receiver may include a first estimation unit providing a respective first useful signal component estimate indicative of the useful signal component for each signal component; a second estimation unit providing a respective second useful signal component estimate indicative of the useful signal component for each signal component; a channel estimation unit estimating, for each signal component, a first channel frequency response associated with the respective useful signal component and a second channel frequency response associated with the respective interfering signal component; and a control unit determining, for each signal component, an interference level experienced by that signal component according to respective first and second channel frequency responses.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for allocating resources in a geographic area.     Abstract: A method for estimating an occupancy level of a geographic area includes transmitting first signals to and receiving second signals from bodies within the geographic area by backscattering of the first signals. The bodies include first bodies permanently within the geographic area and second bodies temporarily within the geographic area. According to the first and second signals, a first map of the first bodies within the geographic area is generated. At a specified time period, following a reference time period, transmission of the first signals, reception of the radio signals and generation of the first map is repeated. According to the first and second signals, a second map of the bodies within the geographic area is generated. A number of the second bodies within the geographic area during the specified time period is determined as the occupancy level based on comparing the first map to the second map.

    Abstract: It is disclosed a performance measurement application for a user communication device. The device runs at least one user application which exchanges at least one packet flow with a packet-switched communication network.     Abstract: In a method for exchanging packets between first and second nodes of a packet-switched network, each packet comprises two fields settable to an idle value or measurement value. The first node transmits to the second node first packets having a filed set to measurement value. Upon reception of each first packet, the second node transmits back to the first node a second packet having a field set to measurement value. Upon reception of each second packet, the first node transmits to the second node a third packet having another field set to measurement value. A packet loss measurement is calculated as a difference between the number of first packets and the number of third packets.
