摘要: A process for conveniently and efficiently producing a highly pure cinnamaldehyde derivative, for example, (2E)-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxy)cinnamaldehyde, which comprises reacting a benzaldehyde derivative, such as isovanillin and the like, with acetaldehyde in the presence of an alkali, in particular preferably, dropping acetaldehyde little by little thereto in an aqueous solution at a low temperature for the reaction thereof. The cinnamaldehyde derivative thus obtained is selectively reduced to produce 3-(3-hydroxy-4-substituted (with methoxy group or the like)phenyl)propionaldehyde. Further, through a reductive alkylation reaction of the compound thus produced with an aspartame, N-[N-[3-(3-hydroxy-4-substituted (with methoxy group or the like)phenyl)propyl]-L-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester, which is useful as a sweetener having a high sweetening potency, can be industrially and efficiently produced. The processes therefor are also provided.

摘要: A code reader for color images, which can simultaneously accept a one-dimensional code or a two-dimensional code and data of a color image of a subject for management and which can record both the data in mapping with each other, is provided. The code reader comprises color image pickup means for picking up a code and also a color image of a subject for management as is specified by identification information contained in the code; code-recognizing-data extraction means for extracting luminance data from the color image data picked up by the color image pickup means, and for writing gray scale data into a first frame memory as data for recognizing the code; and recorded-image extraction means for extracting color data from the color image data picked up by the color image pickup means, and for writing the color data into a second frame memory as data for the original image of the subject for management.

摘要: An optical pickup has a semiconductor laser having two laser sources of different wavelengths disposed in the same package, one diffraction grating and one optical detector. A plurality of light reception areas each having four divisional light reception planes of a -character shape are disposed at positions where light beams reflected from an optical disc are applied. A focus error signal is generated by an astigmatism method by using independently these light reception areas and a tracking error signal is generated by a differential phase detection method by using one or both the light reception areas.
