Abstract:
Methods and systems for reduced-complexity decoding of low-density parity-check (LDPC) information. An encoded input stream is received. The received stream is decoded with one or more reduced-complexity min-sum or a posteriori probability LDPC decoders. A v-node update rule in the reduced complexity decoder is omitted.
Abstract:
An authentication device and a mobile device work together for redeeming an electronic promotion code at a point of sale. Upon receipt of an electronic promotion code, the authentication device encrypts the electronic promotion code and transmits the encrypted promotion code to the mobile device. In response, the mobile device decrypts the encrypted promotion code and determines whether the decrypted promotion code satisfies one or more predefined conditions. If so, the mobile device displays a message, indicating a successful redemption of the promotion code at the point of sale. In some implementations, the message includes a confirmation code, which is provided to the authentication device for generating a transaction log record. In some implementations, the mobile device also generates a separate transaction log record for the promotion code and transmits the transaction log record to a remote server for further processing.
Abstract:
A specialized processing block such as a DSP block may be enhanced by including direct connections that allow the block output to be directly connected to either the multiplier inputs or the adder inputs of another such block. A programmable integrated circuit device may includes a plurality of such specialized processing blocks. The specialized processing block includes a multiplier having two multiplicand inputs and a product output, an adder having as one adder input the product output of the multiplier, and having a second adder input and an adder output, a direct-connect output of the adder output to a first other one of the specialized processing block, and a direct-connect input from a second other one of the specialized processing block. The direct-connect input connects a direct-connect output of that second other one of the specialized processing block to a first one of the multiplicand inputs.
Abstract:
A method for providing hand detection may include receiving feature transformed image data for a series of image frames, determining asymmetric difference data indicative of differences between feature transformed image data of a plurality of frames of the series of image frames and a reference frame, and determining a target area based on an intersection of the asymmetric difference data. An apparatus and computer program product corresponding to the method are also provided.
Abstract:
Multi-mode diode emitters are stacked in a staircase formation to provide a spatially-mulitplexed output. Improved coupling efficiency is achieved by providing tilted collimated output beams that determine an effective step height of the stepped structure. Since the effective step height is dependent on the tilt angle, a variable number of emitters can be used inside packages having a same physical step height, while still attaining high coupling efficiency.
Abstract:
A method of encoding for optical transmission of information includes encoding information with a generalized low-density parity-check (GLDPC) code for providing coding gains, and constructing the GLDPC code with a Reed-Muller RM code as a component code, the component code being decodable using a maximum posterior probability (MAP) decoding. In a preferred embodiment, the GLDPC code includes a codeword length of substantially 4096, an information word length of substantially 3201, a lower-bound on minimum distance of substantially greater than or equal to 16, a code rate of substantially 0.78 and the RM component code includes an order of substantially 4 and an r parameter of substantially 6.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for secure communication include assigning data streams to respective orthogonal sub-carriers according to random number information at a transmitter. The data streams are modulated onto the respective orthogonal sub-carriers before the orthogonal sub-carriers are transmitted. The random number information is transmitted on a second medium, separate from the transmission medium. The orthogonal sub-carriers are received from the transmission medium at a receiver, while the random number information is received from the second medium at the receiver. The orthogonal sub-carriers are associated with data streams using the random number information and demodulated to produce data for the associated data stream.
Abstract:
An inventive method for coherent interleaved polarization-multiplexing PolMux optical communications with a single IQ modulator includes modulating a light source to generate a 50% return-to-zero RZ signal pulse at a frequency Rs, driving a single IQ modulator with inphase I and quadrature phase Q data at a bit rate of sais Rs to introduce phase modulation on said 50% RZ signal pulse to produce a QPSK pulse signal with all symbols being in a same polarization state without any time overlapping; and polarization modulating said QPSK signal to alternatively convert said QPSK signal into two orthogonal polarizations states enabling an interleaving PolMux signal with a symbol rate of Rs/2.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed to provide optical communication by using subcarriers as individual bases functions, obtaining signal constellation points of an N-dimensional pulse amplitude modulation (ND-PAM) constellation diagram as an N-dimensional Cartesian product of a one-dimensional PAM; and transmitting the N-dimensional signal constellation point over all N orthogonal subcarriers serving as individual bases functions.
Abstract:
