Abstract:
An electronic device for 3-dimensionally inputting a user command and a method employing the same are provided. The electronic device includes a touch pad sensing a 3-dimensional interface and a controller controlling a GUI (graphical user interface) in response to the 3-dimensional interface sensed by the touch pad. Thus, a user command can be 3-dimensionally input so as to harmonize a 3-dimensional varying method of a 3-dimensional GUI with a 3-dimensional input manipulation of a user.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for processing a frame in consideration of processing capability and power consumption for each core in a multi-core system are provided. To perform a user interface drawing in a multi-core environment, an optimum combination of hardware components capable of operating with the minimum of power consumption while satisfying a requirement of a user may be obtained and a parallel user interface drawing may be performed by use of the optimum combination of hardware components.
Abstract:
Provided is a method and apparatus for managing an SCH in an MS in a mobile communication system are provided. The MS receives an SCH assignment message notifying assignment of the SCH from a BS. If the duration of the SCH expires, the MS receives at least one more frame on the SCH and performs an error check on the at least one frame. If the at least one frame turns out to not be erroneous in the error check, the MS extends the duration of the SCH.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a functionally graded glass/ceramic/glass sandwich system for use in damage resistant, ceramic and orthopedic prosthesis. The functionally graded glass/substrate/glass composite structure comprises an outer residual glass layer, a graded glass-ceramic layer, and a dense interior ceramic. The functionally graded glass/substrate/glass composite structure may further comprise a veneer on an exterior surface. The present invention also provides a method for preparing a functionally graded glass/ceramic/glass sandwich system. A powdered glass-ceramic composition is applied to the accessible surfaces of a presintered zirconia substrate to thereby substantially cover the substrate surfaces. The glass of the composition has a CTE similar to that of the substrate material. The glass-ceramic composition is infiltrated into and densifies the substrate by heating the assembly to at least the sintering temperature of the substrate.

Abstract:
Improved head gimbal assemblies reducing TMR (Track Mis-Registration) in a hard disk drive are provided. These head gimbal assemblies are as mechanically simple as contemporary head gimbal assemblies, support parallel flying sliders over flat disk surfaces, and reduce TMR induced by disk vibration. They are easier to build, more reliable, and cost less to make, than other known approaches at comparable track densities and rotational rates. The improved head gimbal assemblies include three sets of mechanisms for moving the slider parallel the disk surface, when the disk surface is flat, and radially moving the slider toward the track, when the disk surface is bent. The first and third mechanisms as well as the second and third mechanisms can be used together in a head gimbal assembly. An improved and distinctive servo-controller scheme resulting in an overall improvement in PES performance, particularly when applied to hard disk drives employing the invention's TMR reduction mechanisms. The servo-controllers trade off gain in the disk vibration frequency range, in favor of, increased rejection of low frequency disturbances. This leads to the lowest PES statistics, when applied to hard disk drives with the TMR reduction mechanisms of the invention.
