摘要: The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for controlling the presentation of submissions within a real-time communication session by sequentially organizing and displaying messages immediately followed by their corresponding responses for allowing participants within the session to easily view, follow and participate within such session. Sequential tags are associated with each submission displayed within the session, whereby these tags are used to sequentially sort the messages along with their corresponding responses. Time stamps associated with each message and response may further be used for sequentially sorting such messages along with their corresponding responses. These sequentially sorted messages and corresponding responses are viewed in a modified display window, optionally along with the unmodified display window of the real-time communication session, on a display screen. This modified display window may be continually refreshed.

摘要: A solution is presented to keep track of the URLs that have been visited within an HTML file, identify the location or exit point of the last line that was displayed on a screen in a multi-screen HTML file, and return to the exact exit point location upon reentry to the web page by computing which section of the HTML file to display on the screen, and then displaying this section. The identification of whether a web page has changed after it has been visited by a user is also presented. A cyclic redundancy check is performed, comparing the current cyclic redundancy number with the last cyclic redundancy number obtained when the screen of exited multi-screen HTML file was last visited. If the web page has changed, the user has the option of viewing the web page at the top screen or going to the screen that contains the last exit position of the HTML file that was previously viewed.

摘要: In automotive GPS navigation systems, a traveler's agenda with multiple desired destinations can be entered in a largely automatic fashion by downloading an agenda table created using the agenda replicator system and methods disclosed herein. The replicator system includes computer hardware and software systems, operable by a user, to acquire and store, apart from a vehicle and its GPS navigation system, personal travel agenda information for later transfer to a storage subsystem of the vehicle's GPS navigation system. The hardware system may be implemented as a desktop or laptop computer, or even a personal digital assistant. The software system includes program components for controlling the hardware and providing a data structure in which personal travel information selected by the user is placed in an agenda table. The replicator system includes means for transferring the information from this data structure into a storage subsystem of the vehicle's GPS navigation system. In this manner, the agenda replicator system allows an agenda table to be created by the user while in an office or other convenient location, and then be easily transferred to the storage subsystem of the vehicle's navigation system. The disclosed replicator system and methods also allow the user to specify personal preferences in the agenda table. These in turn allow the route-planning subsystem to do a better job of selecting routes to follow when traveling from one destination to the next.

摘要: A method and apparatus which produces a semitransparent cursor for a video display presenting simultaneous viewing access to both the cursor and the underlying image information. At the on-screen location of the cursor, the viewer is able to simultaneously view and distinguish between the cursor and the underlying graphical data. In one form, the method includes the steps of obtaining the red, green, and blue video pixel data for each pixel representing at least a portion of the cursor; halving the numerical value of each datum of red, green, and blue video pixel data; injecting a binary value into the most significant bit of each datum to obtain modified red, green, and blue video pixel data; and providing modified red, green, and blue video pixel data to a video display.

摘要: Systems and methods for processing autonomic e-mails, which each have at least one unique identifying number attached to them, are disclosed. Internally within an organization, e-mails are often sent to multiple recipients, such as to all members of a particular distribution list, to request information or ask that a task be performed by one or more, but less than all, of those recipients. The disclosed systems and methods help minimize the overall time burden to those recipients in responding to or trying to track such e-mails, and help the sender and recipients alike more easily view, manage and control such e-mails and their ultimate disposition, including the sender's e-mail and the plurality of responses sent by recipients. Separate viewable areas for each string or chain of related autonomic e-mails within each user's e-mail in-box and other e-mail storage areas are provided. These areas are preferably organized in a certain hierarchical manner and facilitate the user's ability to review and process such e-mails with greater dispatch and confidence. The e-mail's sender and at least certain recipients can help decide whether to terminate a particular thread of autonomic e-mail communications by designating it as completed or canceled. In either such situation, those e-mails which have not yet read by recipients can be moved to a “completed” folder or deleted altogether. This in turn saves the review time of those recipients who have been away or too busy to check the e-mails within their respective in-boxes.

摘要: Domain name system (DNS) servers provide Internet protocol (IP) addresses that computers must have for finding websites on the Internet. A recent problem with navigating the Internet is that hackers have discovered ways to change the IP addresses stored on the DNS servers. An altered IP address will cause an Internet user to be directed to an incorrect or fraudulent website. In the present invention, an Internet user's computer stores domain names and corresponding IP addresses of all websites visited with the computer. Each time a website is accessed, the IP address received from the DNS server is compared to the IP address stored in the database. If the IP addresses are identical, then the newly received IP address is likely legitimate. If the IP addresses are different, then the newly received IP address is likely fraudulent, and the user can be warned before loading the website.
