The present invention relates to a black-and-white aqueous alkaline photographic developer composition, free of dihydroxybenzene developing agent, comprising a reductic acid developing agent and an auxiliary superadditive developing agent, wherein the reductic acid developing agent is represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and group CH.sub.2 R.sub.5, wherein R.sub.5 is hydrogen or a monovalent group, e.g. amino, cyano, halogen, hydroxyl, carboxyl, sulfonyl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl.A process for forming a black-and-white photographic silver image comprising developing a silver halide photographic element with said black-and-white aqueous alkaline photographic developer composition is also described.

The present invention relates to an alkaline aqueous black-and-white photographic developer composition comprising:(1) at least one black-and-white developing agent,(2) at least one black-and-white auxiliary developing agent,(3) at least one antifoggant,(4) at least one sequestering agent,(5) a sulfite antioxidant,(6) at least one buffering agent,(7) a tone agent, and(8) at least one tone promoting agent,wherein said tone agent is a primary organic amine compound and said tone promoting agent is a silver halide solvent.

A ready-to-use photographic color developing composition for the development of high bromide silver halide photographic element, said composition being substantially free of bromides, hydroxylamines and benzyl alcohol and comprising a color developing agent, a buffering agent, a complexing agent, an antifogging agent, a contrast promoting agent, an antioxidant agent and a polyol compound.A rapid access processing method of a high bromide silver halide photographic color element, said method comprising the steps of:developing said element for a period of about 75 to about 105 seconds in a ready-to-use color developing composition substantially free of bromides, hydroxylamines and benzylalcohol and comprising a color developing agent, a buffering agent, a complexing agent, an antifogging agent, a contrast promoting agent, an antioxidant agent and a compound of formula:R--(OH).sub.n wherein R is a straight or branched or alycyclic alkyle with 4 to 8 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 4 to 8, and containing said antioxidant agent in a quantity equal to or lower than 0.01 moles per liter with a developing agent to antioxidant agent molar ratio higher than or equal to 2:1,washing said element for a period of about 10 to about 20 seconds,bleach-fixing said element for a period of about 75 to about 105 seconds in a ready-to-use bleach and fix composition having a pH value in the range from 5 to 8 and having a bleaching agent to antioxidizing agent weight ratio equal to or lower than 20:1,and stabilizing said element, without washing between the bleach-fixing and stabilizing step, for a period of about 45 to about 75 seconds.
Abstract:
The addition to an aqueous alkaline developer composition for silver halide photographic materials of a dialkylaminomethane diphosphonic acid compound sequestering agent increases the resistance of the developer composition against aerial oxidation and inhibits calcareous deposit formation.
