A battery pack having a protection circuit to detect an overcharge, overdischarge, or overcurrent condition of a secondary battery and to turn off a switch element on a path connecting between the secondary battery and either a load or a charger device includes a series-connected thermistor and resistor disposed in proximity of the secondary battery and connected in parallel to the secondary battery, and a first comparator in the protection circuit to compare a voltage at a junction point between the thermistor and the resistor with a first reference voltage corresponding to a first predetermined temperature, wherein the protection circuit turns off the switch element by an output signal of the first comparator upon an exceeding of the first predetermined temperature by temperature of the secondary battery.
Abstract:
A battery pack has first through third external terminals connected to positive and negative power supply terminals and a voltage detection terminal, respectively. A secondary battery is connected between the first external terminal and the third external terminal. A protection circuit controls ON/OFF of first and second switching elements provided on a wiring between the secondary battery and a load or a charge device by detecting an overcharge, an overdischarge and an overcurrent of the secondary battery. A first thermistor is connected between the second external terminal and the third external terminal. A series circuit containing a second thermistor and a resistor is provided in parallel to the secondary battery. A third switching element is connected between the second external terminal and the third external terminal. The protection circuit turns on the third switching element and short-circuits between the second external terminal and the third external terminal when a detection is made by the second thermistor that a temperature of the secondary battery exceeds a predetermined temperature.
Abstract:
A moving-image reproduction apparatus includes a display section for displaying an image in a moving-image display area; a moving-image data storage section for storing a plurality of pieces of moving-image data; a moving-image data reproduction section for reading out moving-image data and reproducing the moving-image data; a moving-image change-over command section for requesting change-over from a preceding moving image to a succeeding moving image; and a control section for changing-over from a preceding moving image to a succeeding moving image in accordance with the request. During a period of time lasting till the start of a process to actually display a reproduced moving image based on the moving-image data, the control section stops reproduction of the preceding moving image and reduces the brightness of the moving-image display area to a value corresponding to a black moving image in a predetermined period of time.
Abstract:
A light source device includes at least two light emitting parts which emit light; and a polarization separating part which transmits polarized light in a first vibrating direction of the lights from the light emitting part, and reflects polarized light in a second vibrating direction nearly orthogonal to the first vibrating direction, thereby to separate the lights from the light emitting part into the polarized light in the first vibrating direction and the polarized light in the second vibrating direction. Herein, the light emitting part includes a reflection part which reflects light that travels toward the light emitting part from the polarization separating part, in the direction of the polarization separating part. The polarization separating part synthesizes the polarized light in the first vibrating direction that has passed through the polarization separating part, and the polarized light in the second vibrating direction that has reflected on the polarization separating part, thereby to cause the synthesized light to travel in a predetermined direction.
Abstract:
In a battery pack, an overcharge detecting circuit compares a voltage between a positive electrode and a negative electrode of a secondary battery with a threshold voltage to detect an overcharge of the secondary battery, and turns off a switching element. A series circuit including a thermistor and a resistor is arranged near the secondary battery and connected in parallel to the secondary battery. A comparator compares a voltage at a junction point of the thermistor and the resistor with a reference voltage corresponding to a predetermined temperature. In response to an output signal of the comparator, a changing unit changes the threshold voltage to a first value when a temperature of the secondary battery is below the predetermined temperature, and changes the threshold voltage to a second smaller value when the temperature of the secondary battery is above the predetermined temperature.

An image display device for displaying an image by a light beam modulated according to an image signal includes: a light source unit that supplies the light beam; a scanning unit for performing scanning with the light beam from the light source unit; a screen that transmits the light beam from the scanning unit; a light detection unit that detects light incoming from the screen via the scanning unit; and a light beam emission stop unit that stops emission of the light beam from the image display device according to an output from the light detection unit.
Abstract:
A laser light source device includes a light source section, and a drive current controller. The light source section includes a first and second fundamental light source component, and a wavelength conversion component. The first and second fundamental light source components emit first and second fundamental wave lights according to supplied drive currents, respectively. The drive current controller controls the drive currents supplied to the fundamental light source components. The wavelength conversion component performs wavelength conversion of the first and second fundamental wave lights to produce first and second converted lights. The first and second fundamental light source components emit the fundamental wave lights such that the first and second converted lights have substantially same color, and the first and second converted lights have no mutually overlapping timing at which light intensities of the converted lights reach their peak.

A light source unit includes: a plurality of light sources that provide light beams; and an optical-path changing section that outputs the light beams emitted from the light sources such that the light beams are substantially parallel to one another and the distance therebetween are smaller than the distance at entering from the light sources, thereby changing the optical path of the light beams.
Abstract:
A projector of rear-projection type including a light source that outputs a laser beam and a scanner that scans a screen with the laser beam. When a laser beam with energy exceeds an accessible emission limit due to failure of the light source or the scanner, at least one optical member located in an optical path of the laser beam is arranged so as to be broken or altered in quality and to prevent or discourage the beam with energy exceeding the accessible emission limit from being output from the screen.
