Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some wireless communications systems, a base station may transmit control information to a user equipment (UE) in a control resource set (coreset) of a transmission time interval (TTI). As described herein, the base station may transmit common control information in a common search space (CSS) of the coreset and a UE-specific control information in a UE-specific search space (USS) of the same coreset. In addition, the base station may transmit reference signals in the coreset to allow the UE to perform channel estimation to correctly decode or demodulate the control information in the CSS and USS of the coreset. In some examples, the reference signals transmitted in the CSS and USS of the coreset may include a common sequence for the coreset.

Abstract: A grant may allocate resources for an uplink transmission by a user equipment (UE) in a system using beamforming, where the resources may be used by the UE to transmit data or control information during a time that a base station is listening in a certain receive beam direction. A UE may be in communication with a base station using beamformed transmissions, and the base station may send a resource grant to the UE for uplink transmissions that correspond to a receive beam direction of a beamsweeping operation. The UE may then transmit data and/or uplink control information to the base station according to the resource grant and when the base station is listening in the corresponding direction. In some examples, the UE may send the uplink transmission to the serving base station, and transmit a random access channel to another base station based on the beamsweeping operation.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communications systems, a base station may perform signaling to indicate information related to ports assigned to one or more UEs. The base station may also signal information regarding ports shared with other UEs, which the UE may use when performing channel estimation. In some examples, the base station may signal a number of ports used per sub-band to the UE or a number of demodulation reference signal (DMRS) ports used by the UE. The base station may signal a sub-set of a total number of ports that are shared by other UEs overlapping with the resource allocation of the UE. The signaling may indicate a number of combs used by the base station in the resource allocation for the UE.

Abstract: In order to overcome problems that a UE may face in determining a default beam for communication with the base station during a COT, a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are provided for a base station to indicate to the UE which CORESET(s), QCL assumptions, UL resources, and/or spatial relationships are selected for a COT. A UE receives, from a base station, an indication corresponding to a COT. The indication is for at least one of a set of CORESETs, a set of QCL assumptions, a set of UL resources, or a set of spatial relations for determining a default beam. The UE determines the default beam from the base station for use during the COT based on the indication. The UE transmits or receives a transmission using the default beam.

Abstract: Systems and methods herein increase the throughput and decreases the collisions of transmitted resource element group (REG) bundles. Prior to transmitting a PDCCH comprising REG bundles, one or more processors perform a multi-component interleaver process that diversifies and randomizes the sequence of the REG bundles while also supporting CORESETs having different symbol lengths. In embodiments, the multi-component interleaver diversifies a virtual sequence of REG bundles using a block interleaver and then uses a randomizer interleaver to randomize the output sequence of the block interleaver. The diversified and randomized output sequence of REG bundles may be the physical channel sequenced of the REG bundles. The physical channel sequence of REG bundles is diversified and randomized such that the physical sequence increases throughput and decreases the collisions of transmitted REG bundles. Other aspects are claimed and described.

Abstract: Beam management enhancements for advanced millimeter wave (mmWave) operations are disclosed. As a part of channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration, a user equipment may include an interference plus noise measurement of beams for consideration in beam management. The UE measures a set of signaling resources of each beam for power contribution and interference plus noise. According to the particular configuration, the UE may rank all of the available beams into a subset of the highest ranked beams, ranked either by the interference plus noise measurement, by the power contribution metric, or by a combination of both. The UE reports an identification of the subset to the serving base station which determines the beam to use for subsequent communications with the UE.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to mechanisms for mapping a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) across multiple transmission configuration indication (TCI) states. In some examples, the PDCCH may then be encoded using a common mother polar code for each of a first set of control channel elements (CCEs) mapped to a first TCI state and a remaining set of CCEs mapped to a second TCI state. First and second portions of the encoded PDCCH may then be transmitted, such that the first portion includes the first set of CCEs, and the second portion includes the remaining set of CCEs.
