    Abstract: An improved transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state for channel state information (CSI) reporting is disclosed for full-duplex systems. In such systems, a potentially victim user equipment (UE) may receive a CSI report configuration message including at least a TCI state and a quasi-colocation (QCL) type indicator. The TCI state includes identification of at least a downlink reference signal resource and an uplink reference signal resource, while the QCL type indicator indicates a spatial relationship between the downlink and uplink reference signals. The UE may then determine a receive beam for receipt of a downlink reference signal, wherein the receive beam is determined based on the QCL type indicator. The UE generates and transmits a CSI report based on the receipt of the downlink reference signal using the determined receive beam and an interference measurement of the uplink reference signal resource.

    Abstract: The described techniques provide for the use of sub-band-specific reference signal precoding. A user equipment (UE) may apply multiple precoding matrices to a reference signal to generate a set of precoded reference signals and may transmit the precoded reference signals over respective sub-bands within a given reference signal resource set. In some cases, the UE may transmit a different set of precoded reference signals in each of multiple reference signal resource sets. Upon receiving the precoded reference signals, a base station may perform wideband channel estimation for each sub-band in the given reference signal resource set. The base station may compute an average spectral efficiency for each reference signal resource set and may transmit a report to the UE. The report may include one or more communication parameters for future communications between the UE and base station.

    Abstract: Dynamic reconfiguration of CSI-RS resources for CSI reporting is described for full dimension multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) systems. While a larger number of channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) resources with independent resource configuration are configured and associated with a CSI process, only a subset of resources that are activated by additional signaling are used for CSI measurement and reporting. The set of activated CSI-RS resources may include only a single CSI-RS resource. Both periodic and aperiodic CSI reporting may then be based on the same set of the activated CSI-RS resources. Medium access control (MAC) control elements may be used to provide activation/deactivation of the CSI-RS resources. Additionally, CSI reporting may be based on both the activated CSI-RS resources and the associated number of antenna ports.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a random access (RACH) procedure, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a first RACH message (e.g., RACH Message A (MsgA)) to a base station, which may include an indication of a modulation order, a maximum number of repetitions for RACH Message B (MsgB) data, or both. The base station may multiplex random access responses (RARs) for UEs into second RACH messages (e.g., RACH MsgBs) based on the indication(s) and may transmit these RACH MsgBs. The UE may receive and decode a downlink control information (DCI) portion of a RACH MsgB but may determine not to decode the data portion of the RACH MsgB if an indication in the DCI of the modulation order, the threshold number of repetitions, or both does not match the value reported by the UE. Otherwise, the UE may decode the full RACH MsgB.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for increasing physical random access channel (PRACH) capacity using orthogonal cover codes (OCCs) in wireless communications systems are described. A base station may transmit a PRACH configuration that indicates PRACH resources for system access, for example, in a system information block (SIB). A user equipment (UE) may receive the PRACH configuration, and may identify PRACH resources that support OCCs for system access. For example, PRACH configurations with small time domain spacing between PRACH resources may support OCCs. The UE may determine whether to transmit random access (RACH) preamble messages using OCCs in the PRACH resources, and may transmit a RACH preamble message to the base station based on the determination. In some cases, the base station may additionally indicate PRACH resources not configured for OCCs, and the UE may determine which set of resources to transmit in based on one or more parameters.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In wireless systems supporting multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) transmissions, devices may implement beam-forming to improve reliability of communications. A user equipment (UE) may select a set of beams, and corresponding beam indices, for communication based on reference signals received from a base station. The UE may determine values corresponding to each of the beam indices using a scalable set of tables. For example, the UE may select a subset of the tables based on the number of selected beams, and may determine the values based on these tables. In this way, the UE may efficiently store sets of tables for multiple different configurations. The UE may sum the corresponding values to obtain a combination index value, and may transmit the combination index value to the base station. The base station may determine the selected beams based on this combination index value.
