Abstract:
A method for a WLAN access point to allocate telephone numbers for use by mobile stations. The access point includes stored data indicating one or more allowed telephone numbers. When a mobile station associated with the access point and acquires an IP address, the mobiles station sends a telephone number allocation-request to the access point, seeking allocation of a particular telephone number for use by the mobile station. If the telephone requested number is one of those allowed, then the access point associates the telephone number with the mobile station. On the other hand, if the requested telephone number is not one of those allowed, then the access point provides the mobile station with a list of the available telephone numbers, to allow a user to select a desired telephone number, and the mobile station may then send a new telephone number allocation-request, seeking allocation of the selected telephone number.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a communication system facilitating introduction into an existing network and improving a quality of service of communications. The communication system is configured by connecting a relay device performing wireless communications with a terminal, a management device managing the relay device and a server to each other via an IP network, the relay device has a packet generating unit generating an encapsulated packet containing, as a payload, and transferring unit transferring the encapsulated packet to the management device, and the management device has a receiving unit receiving the encapsulated packet transmitted from the relay device, and a transmitting unit transmitting a predetermined encapsulated packet in the encapsulated packets received by the receiving unit back to the relay device.
Abstract:
An arrangement which includes a telephone and an interface unit, which interfaces the telephone to both a standard switched telephone communications network and an Internet communications network, is disclosed. The interface unit includes an input coupled to the telephone to receive audio information and two output ports configured to be respectively coupled to the standard switched telephone communications network and the Internet communications network. A processing unit couples the audio information received from the telephone to the first output port when the telephonic communication is to be performed using the standard switched telephone communications network. Alternatively, the processing unit processes the audio information received from the telephone in accordance with standard Internet transfer protocols and couples the processed audio information to the second output port when the telephonic communication is to be performed using the Internet communications network and the standard protocols.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device, as well as a method, of a multi-service IP-phone. The device and method comprise an IP-phone, to be used for making intercom and inbound/outbound phone calls through a LAN or the Internet, and a network control unit, to be used to control the data transmitting through the network. By connecting the IP-phone with network devices and computer devices, one can not only use the IP-phone to receive and make phone calls, but also use the computer devices to access the LAN or the internet via the IP-phone, which at the same time, with its built-in network control unit, provides such functions as LAN/internet security, data security, packet filtering, bandwidth management, traffic shaping (load balance), and virtual private network (VPN).
Abstract:
In a client/server network, each of a plurality of IP devices has access to a network capability, such as an analog line, when connected to a central server. At least one of the IP devices is in direct communication with a second analog line and grants other IP devices access to the second analog line when the other IP devices lose their connection to the central server.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method of managing real-time services in a packet-based telecommunications network (1) of a plurality of coequal nodes (10 to 14) and a telecommunications network (1) for executing this method. A rule base for each node (10 to 14) is defined in consideration of the capabilities of each node (10 to 14) and/or the capabilities of all other nodes (10 to 14). After receiving information about an event requiring action, one or more of said nodes (10 to 14) determine node-specific action in consideration of said rule base and node-specific aggregated data as reaction to said event. Media data and/or signaling data associated with said real-time services are routed based on the determined action.
Abstract:
An apparatus and methods for Real Time Protocol (RTP) based bridging to create calls to and From any communication devices connected to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) or any public or private Internet Protocol network. The methods are represented in controls residing either in an RTP Bridge apparatus or as middleware on a service creation platform, softswitch, or SIP proxy services incorporating SIP bridging and SIP call relay technologies, with an interface to a TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) switch operated by a Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) or Competitive LEC (CLEC), or hosted by an Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) with connectivity to the PSTN through media gateways. The method permits a party to request an on demand conference call by either dialing into the apparatus from the PSTN or from any type of RTP communication device such as an IP phone; or using a form of signaling from RTP translation device. The moderator initiates the request, enters the participant(s) to be included in the call, and the launch sequence is initiated and the apparatus makes contact with the phone/end point and uses RTP bridging to interlace the packet streams and deliver one stream back to all the devices. The advantage is an on demand conference call to one or many participants, on similar or different communications platforms.
Abstract:
A multimedia middleware apparatus using metadata, a control method and a storage medium are provided which can receive metadata in multimedia middleware provided in a terminal, easily add/delete/change a service, and effectively maintain and manage middleware components. When an open multimedia terminal processes multimedia contents, a multimedia middleware service structure for expressing information of a name, configuration, version and application programming interface (API) update is configured in the form of metadata. Lists of standard and non-standard services of multimedia middleware are then generated and managed.
Abstract:
A communications system and method is configured to provide multimedia services utilizing a signaling protocol such as a session initiated protocol (SIP), via a local access network. The method includes providing a local proxy having an internet protocol (IP) address, wherein the local proxy is integrated with the local access network. The method further includes providing a client device having a signaling protocol client, wherein the client device is coupled to a remote access network that is external to the local access network. Additionally, the method includes initiating a session by the client device accessing the IP address of the local proxy.
