    Abstract: An OFDM signal may include a first edge band signal corresponding to a first edge band of the bandwidth of the OFDM signal, a second edge band signal corresponding to a second edge band of the bandwidth, and a center band signal corresponding to a center band of the bandwidth. The OFDM signal may be filtered by filtering the first edge band signal and/or the second edge band signal, so that out-of-band radiation of the OFDM may be reduced or eliminated.

    Abstract: It is possible to reduce the overhead associated with downlink channel estimation in massive Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) networks by processing training sequences according to a transformation matrix. The transformation matrix maps a generic dictionary to a non-generic dictionary associated with an antenna geometry of a MIMO antenna array. The transformation matrix can be computed based on the two dictionaries. In one embodiment, the training reference signal is precoded to obtain a precoded training reference signal, which is then transmitted over a MIMO antenna array. The training precoder used to precode the training reference signal is designed according to the transformation matrix to mitigate a dependence that the training reference signal transmission has on the antenna geometry.

    Abstract: Embodiments are provided for a scheme of link adaptation (LA) in uplink grant-less random access (RA) communications. The scheme includes changing a modulation and coding (MCS) of a user, instead of using a fixed MCS over time, as the user link, channel, or non-link conditions vary during the RA communications. In an embodiment, a transmission point (TP) receives from a UE a packet encoded using a MCS, and detects a condition associated with uplink measurements or other non-link based condition of the UE. The TP then initiates an upgrade or a downgrade of the MCS in accordance with the condition, and signals the UE indicating a second MCS as a result. The UE thus sends a second packet encoded using the second MCS. In another embodiment, the UE initiates the MCS change in accordance to detecting a link or non-link based condition, such as change of mobility.

    Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for communicating data in a wireless channel. In one example, a method includes adapting the transmission time interval (TTI) length of transport container for transmitting data in accordance with a criteria. The criteria may include (but is not limited to) a latency requirement of the data, a buffer size associated with the data, a mobility characteristic of a device that will receive the data. The TTI lengths may be manipulated for a variety of reasons, such as for reducing overhead, satisfy quality of service (QoS) requirements, maximize network throughput, etc. In some embodiments, TTIs having different TTI lengths may be carried in a common radio frame. In other embodiments, the wireless channel may partitioned into multiple bands each of which carrying (exclusively or otherwise) TTIs having a certain TTI length.

    Abstract: A network for facilitating wireless radio communication. The network includes a first access area, wherein the access area includes one or more transmission/receive points. At least one transmission/receive point includes a base station that supports wireless communication between a network and user equipment (UE), such as, a mobile device.     Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for spreading symbols over multiple time-frequency resources that rely on simple base constellations that can be sent over a frequency tone or time slot. A set of input bits (or an input symbol) are mapped to K symbols, and a symbol-to-resource-element mapping is applied that maps the K symbols to resource units. The mapping to the K symbols may be a linear mapping that maps an input symbol to K target tones through a 2K×2 real matrix, where input symbol is a complex point in a base constellation, and is considered as a 2-dimensional real vector. Up to K co-orthogonal 2K×2 real matrices (whose columns are orthogonal to each other) can be associated with the subset of K target tones. Each of the K co-orthogonal matrices can be used for mapping of an independent symbol from a separate steam of symbols which can be associated to a single UE or separate UEs.

    Abstract: Systems and Methods for Self-Contained Air Interface Partitions Signal processing complexity in fifth generation (5G) networks can be reduced by communicating wireless signals over self-contained partitions of a carrier such that the wireless transmission communicated over each self-contained partition of the carrier includes all physical control channel signaling required to decode data carried in a physical data channel of the partition. The control signaling may include resource assignment within the partition, modulation and coding scheme indication, reference signal configuration and retransmission information. In some embodiments, an anchor partition of a carrier is used to communicate initial access information for self-contained partitions of the carrier. The initial access information may include center-frequencies, bandwidths, and/or air interface configurations of the self-contained partitions. The anchor partition may also carry load indications associated with the self-contained partitions.

An embodiment a method in a base station for signaling group common control channel information is provided. The method includes determining control information common to a group of user equipment (UEs), the control information comprising time-frequency locations for at least one of a plurality of data channels and a plurality of control channels. The method also includes encoding the control information in a group common control channel to generate encoded control information.     Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for providing waveform adaptation are provided. In an example, a method is provided for identifying a plurality of candidate waveforms, and selecting one of the candidate waveforms for data transmission. The candidate waveforms may be identified in accordance with one or more criteria, such as a transmission capability of the transmitting device, a reception capability of the receiving device, a desired Peak-to-Average-Power-Ratio (PAPR) characteristic, adjacent channel interference (ACI) rejection requirements, spectrum localization requirements, and other criteria. The waveform selected for data transmission may be selected in accordance with one or more waveform selection criteria, such as traffic characteristic, application types, etc.
