    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for narrowband communications using frequency hopping in an unlicensed frequency band. In some implementations, a base station (BS) may transmit downlink (DL) data using a sequence of DL hopping frames on a corresponding sequence of unique hopping channels associated with a DL frequency hopping pattern. In some implementations, each user equipment (UE) of one or more UEs may transmit uplink (UL) data using a sequence of UL hopping frames on a corresponding sequence of unique hopping channels associated with a different UL frequency hopping pattern.

    Abstract: Various features related to eMTC-U deployment are described. In an aspect of the disclosure, an apparatus (e.g., a base station) maybe configured to select a subset of non-anchor channels from a set of available non-anchor channels, where the subset of non-anchor channels may correspond to a bandwidth within an unlicensed band. The apparatus maybe further configured to transmit information indicating the subset of non-anchor channels via an anchor channel. In some configurations, the subset of non-anchor channels maybe selected based on channel measurements performed by the base station or a UE. In one aspect, a UE may receive, from a base station via an anchor channel, information indicating a subset of non-anchor channels selected from a set of available non-anchor channels. The UE may transmit data on one or more non-anchor channel of the subset of non-anchor channels.

    Abstract: A method and a system for narrowband wireless communication is disclosed. The base station constructs a DRS comprising a first set of contiguous NPSS subframes followed by a second set of contiguous repeating NSSS subframes. The DRS may further comprise a third set of NSSS subframes followed by a fourth set of NPSS subframes. The base station may apply a cover code to symbols of the NPSS subframes. The base station transmits the NPSS/NSSS subframes as part of a DRS subframe on an anchor channel.

    Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses described herein facilitate narrowband communication within the unlicensed frequency spectrum by simultaneously transmitting (e.g., in adjacent channels) a plurality of anchor channels. For example, a base station may simultaneously transmit at least three anchor channels of 180 kHz each so that the 500 kHz minimum bandwidth requirement is satisfied. Furthermore, the techniques and apparatuses described herein provide discovery reference signal (DRS) structures to cause the different types of DRS to be repeated and/or transmitted on different anchor channels, which improves frequency diversity. Also, a synchronization signal of the anchor channels may be used to indicate a configuration of the anchor channels. Thus, synchronization in the NB-IoT-unlicensed (NB-IoT-u) spectrum is enabled, and efficiency is improved over synchronization using a single anchor channel.

    Abstract: A DRX/eDRX cycle may include a single PFW located in one of the non-anchor hopping frames and used to transmit a paging message. When the LBT procedure fails for the non-anchor hopping frame in which the PFW is located, transmission of the paging message may be delayed. Postponing the transmission of the paging message until a subsequent DRX/eDRX cycle be detrimental since the UE may not receive the change in system information at the next modification boundary. Thus, there is a need for paging mechanism the increases the chance of a UE receiving a paging message during a DRX/eDRX cycle. The present disclosure provides a paging mechanism that uses a PSFW with a PFW in each non-anchor hopping frame within a DRX/eDRX cycle. Hence, the chance of a UE receiving a paging message and hence the change in system information may be increased.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, an AP executes a CCA protocol to determine whether to begin transmission within a DMTC window of a radio frame having first and second blocks of subframes. The AP transmits a multi-subframe DRS within the DRS subframes that is scrambled in accordance with a CSI-RS scrambling rule that determines how the second DRS subframe is to be scrambled based on whether the first DRS subframe is included among the first block of subframes or the second block of subframes.     Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program for wireless communication that allows for greater scheduling flexibility of physical resources are disclosed. A UE receives information from a base station about a time division duplex (TDD) frame structure of a plurality of frames that include a plurality of subframes. The UE determines a control channel search space within the plurality of subframes based on the information. The UE determines a search strategy including a maximum aggregation level based on the control channel search space. The UE performs a blind decoding of the control channel search space with the search strategy to obtain control information. The control channel search space may include a size and a location of a subset of the DL subframes allowed to carry the control information. The UE may determine a plurality of UL subframes assigned for transmitting scheduled UL resources associated with a UL control signaling.
