Abstract: A computer network efficiently provides a multicast network flow to a multicast recipient across a multihomed network element. The multihomed network element includes network devices that receive multicast data from a source of a multicast network flow. Each particular network device that received the multicast data publishes a notification indicating that the multicast network flow is available from the particular network device. The computer network receives a subscription to the multicast network flow from a multicast recipient, and determines whether to bridge the multicast data across the multihomed network element based on a multicast configuration of the computer network. The multihomed network element provides the multicast data to the multicast recipient from at least one of the particular network devices that received the multicast data from the source of the multicast network flow.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for controlling multicast traffic flows through provider edge routers. In some examples, a multicast traffic of one or more multicast traffic flows is received from a multicast source at a first provider edge router of a plurality of provider edge routers. A multicast routing message including a loopback address of the first provider edge router can be originated at the first provider edge router. The multicast routing message can be flooded into a multicast core network for controlling traffic in the one or more multicast flows through the multicast core network to the first provider edge router. Subsequently, multicast joins can be received at the first provider edge router for establishing the one or more multicast flows through the multicast core network based on the multicast routing message including the loopback address of the first provider edge router.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for fast convergence for virtual ethernet segments in EVPN and PBB-EVPN networks are disclosed. A first provider edge (PE) device can receive one or more advertising messages corresponding to one or more virtual ethernet segments, wherein each of the one or more advertising messages can include a port identifier. The first PE device maintains a table including the one or more virtual ethernet segments and the corresponding port identifier. The first PE device can receive a failure message from a second PE device that identifies a first port on the second PE device, and identifies, based on the table, at least one affected virtual ethernet segment that is associated with the first port. The first PE device can remove any routes that are associated with the at least one affected virtual ethernet segment and trigger mass designated-forwarding election for impacted virtual ethernet segments.

Abstract: Message summarization and flood suppression may be provided. A proxy (e.g., an IGMP Proxy) process may be used to reduce the flooding of messages (e.g., IGMP messages) over a network (e.g., an EVPN network). A triggering process may also be provided for provider edge (PE) devices to setup their underlay multicast tunnels. The proxy may comprise two components: i) a proxy for reports (e.g., IGMP reports); and ii) a proxy for queries (e.g., IGMP Queries).

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is described. The method includes receiving a network communication at a first network device coupled to a first network and a second network, determining whether to forward the network communication into the first network over a logical connection, and, if the network communication is to be forwarded into the first network over the logical connection, forwarding the network communication into the first network over the logical connection. The network communication comprises a first network address in the second network that is associated with a second network device coupled to the second network. The logical connection is associated with a second network address in the second network. The determining is based, at least in part, on a determination, as to whether the first network device and the second network device are coupled to the logical connection, that uses the first network address and the second network address.

Abstract: Local switching may be provided over a flexible cross-connect VLAN-aware based service. First, a failure of a first segment link of a first segment may be detected by a first network device. The first segment may have a first segment identifier and the first segment link may be connected to the first network device. Next, a route withdraw indicating the first segment identifier may be sent by the first network device in response to detecting the failure of the first segment link of the first segment. A second network device may then receive the route withdraw. Then, the second network device may forward, in response to receiving the route withdraw, traffic received from the first network device to a second segment link of the first segment connected to the second network device. The traffic may be received from the first network device over a backup connection over an Ethernet Virtual Private Network (EVPN) core.

Abstract: Presented herein is an exemplified system and method that facilitate a point-to-point (P2P) service operation, via EVPN VPWS service tunnels, between customer edge nodes and provider edge nodes in a network infrastructure (e.g., a MPLS infrastructure). In particular, the exemplified system and method employ an EVPN BGP construct that facilitates multiplexing across large number of different physical interfaces, among multiple device manufacturers and vendors, while reducing signaling among the nodes, and being fully supportive of EVPN capabilities. In an embodiment, a method is disclosed that establishes VPWS Service service-tunnels, which is associated with an Ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) Ethernet Auto-Discovery (EAD) route identifies the service tunnel as being a VPWS-ID service, a single tag service, or a double tag service.

The redundancy group comprises a plurality of network devices, and the plurality of network devices are addressed in a first network using an anycast address. The method further includes, if the network communication is received from the first network, forwarding the network communication into a second network. If the network communication is received from the second network, the method determines whether to forward the network communication into the first network based on a status of the network device in the redundancy group, and a result of a filtering operation.
