Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to determining a transmission configuration indication (TCI) state for receiving a multi-transmission point (TRP) communication. A receiving device receives a configuration message indicating a lowest control resource set identifier (CORESET ID) for receiving one or more downlink control information (DCI) and determines whether a state of the receiving device is within a scheduling threshold duration for decoding DCI. The receiving device then determines a TCI state for receiving data based on a TCI state associated with the lowest CORESET ID if the state of the receiving device is within the scheduling threshold duration, wherein the TCI state associated with the lowest CORESET ID indicates one or more sets of quasi co-location (QCL) parameters. The receiving device then receives the data from one or more transmission points (TRPs) based on the one or more sets of QCL parameters.

Abstract: Various aspects and features described herein relate to methods for beam failure recovery in a SCell with assistance from a PCell. In an aspect, an apparatus (e.g., a UE) may detect an SCell beam failure, and send a scheduling request in response to detection of the SCell beam failure to a base station via a PCell. The UE may receive a first message including one of an uplink grant or a trigger for an UL report from the base station via the PCell. The UE may send a second message via the PCell indicating the SCell beam failure and a preferred candidate beam associated with the SCell. The UE may receive CORESET TCI state activation from the base station via the PCell, and determine, based on the CORESET TCI state activation signal, a control channel associated with the preferred candidate beam.

In an example, a user equipment (UE) communicates with a base station on different uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) beam paths. In the example, the UE may indicate to the base station a preferred beam path to use. The UE may indicate the preferred beam path in response to an explicit request from the base station or without an explicit request. The use of different UL/DL beam paths allow beam paths which avoid interference from a user of the UE to be used.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to transmitting and receiving improved monitoring reports. A base station can configure a user equipment (UE) to monitor a channel/signal on multiple beams. The base station can transmit the multiple beams to the UE, which are at different time periods in a monitoring window. The UE can then monitor the multiple beams within the monitoring window and determine a monitoring report. The UE can then transmit the monitoring report to the base station, wherein the monitoring report indicates a subset of multiple beams as being more or less suitable for communication. The base station can also indicate that it will stop transmitting one or more beams and then stop transmitting the beams. If the UE does not send the report, the base station can continue to transmit the multiple beams.

In some examples, the PDCCH may then be encoded using a common mother polar code for each of a first set of control channel elements (CCEs) mapped to a first TCI state and a remaining set of CCEs mapped to a second TCI state. First and second portions of the encoded PDCCH may then be transmitted, such that the first portion includes the first set of CCEs, and the second portion includes the remaining set of CCEs.

The apparatus may transmit signaling that indicates the beam configuration for the data transmission in the first resource block to a UE.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may transmit a power headroom report in response to changing beamforming parameters. The UE may autonomously change beamforming parameters from a preconfigured set of beams or receive a command to change beamforming parameters for transmissions on a new beam. The UE may determine a power headroom applicable to a transmission from the UE on the new beam. The UE may transmit, in response to the command, a power headroom report based on the power headroom using resources configured for the power headroom report. For example, the power headroom report may be multiplexed with an uplink transmission from the UE using the new beam. In an aspect, the UE may select a scheduled transmission during a time period after the command is implemented as the uplink transmission. For example, the power headroom report may be transmitted as a physical layer transmission or as a MAC-CE transmission.
