Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for uplink power control using communications systems operating according to new radio (NR) technologies. For example, a method for wireless communication by a base station includes providing power control parameters, to at least one user equipment (UE), for use in performing uplink transmit power control for one or more uplink transmissions sent using one or more uplink transmit beams, signaling the UE to set or reset one or more of the power control parameters, and transmitting one or more reference signals (RSs) using one or more downlink transmit beams, for the UE to measure for use in the uplink transmit power control.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Uplink resources may be allocated for transmissions of beam recovery messages. For example, a user equipment (UE) communicating in a system that supports beamformed transmissions may receive a configuration for resources from a base station, where the resources may be used for beam recovery signaling. The UE may identify a beam failure on one or more active beams used to communicate with the base station, and the UE may transmit a beam recovery message to the base station. In such cases, the beam recovery message may be transmitted according to the configuration received from the base station such that the beam recovery message is transmitted using the beam recovery resources. In some cases, the configuration may be received at the UE via radio resource control (RRC) signaling or via a system information broadcast from the base station.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for causing active hand-in of a device from a macrocell base station to a femto node, which can be an inter-frequency hand-in. The femto node can broadcast a beacon, which can be received and reported by a device to a source base station along with one or more parameters. The source base station can communicate a handover message to the femto node or a related femto gateway along with the one or more parameters. The femto node or femto gateway can disambiguate the intended target femto node based in part on the one or more parameters, which can include applying one or more filters. Applying the one or more filters may include applying an UL RSSI filter to the one or more femto nodes to determine whether presence of the device causes a rise in UL RSSI measured at the one or more femto nodes.

A user equipment (UE) may obtain a configuration from a base station (BS) comprising at least one first pattern of beams to monitor when performing a beam recovery procedure, communicate using beamforming, with the BS, via an active transmit and receive beam pair, determine a beam failure of the active transmit and receive beam pair, and monitor the beams according to the first pattern in response to the beam failure.

Abstract: Some wireless communication systems may operate in frequency ranges that are associated with beamformed transmissions between wireless devices. In such systems, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to monitor physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) on multiple beam pair links. In order to decode relevant downlink control information (DCI), a UE may perform multiple blind decodes on a control region of a downlink transmission. Blind decoding may be resource-intensive (e.g., computationally complex, energy consuming, etc.), but some systems may be efficiently designed to support the desired PDCCH monitoring via multiple beam pair links without significantly increasing the number of blind decodes at the UE. Aspects of such a design may include non-uniform candidate restriction, beam pair link-specific search spaces, and random control channel element (CCE) mapping across a candidate search space.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A network entity may identify a first frequency range of a system bandwidth that is used for transmission of synchronization information. The network may identify a second frequency range of the system bandwidth that is used for transmission of common control information. The second frequency range may be a function of the first frequency range. The first and second frequency ranges may be less than the system bandwidth. In some cases, the second frequency range and the first frequency range may be a same frequency range. The network entity may transmit the common control information on a frequency within the second frequency range of the system bandwidth.

The BS may transmit, to the UE, additional information regarding at least one of direction information associated with the one or more reference signals or rank indication to be used by the UE to measure the one or more reference signals during the one or more measurement gaps. A UE may perform corresponding operations.
