Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit a data packet to a user equipment (UE). The data packet may have an associated packet delay budget to maintain a quality of experience for a user of the UE. The UE may determine a packet delivery time associated with the packet based on a communications latency and a signal processing latency. The UE may assess the packet delay budget and determine a remaining delay budget based on the packet delivery time. The UE may report the remaining delay budget to the base station in a feedback message. Based on the feedback message, the base station may determine to adjust a transmission time for subsequent data packet transmissions to improve data packet transmission and processing reliability.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for determining tone patterns and associated power levels for transmission of reference signals. A tone pattern (e.g., with each tone pattern occupying a resource element in a resource block) can be determined for a reference signal for use in wireless communications between a receiving device and a transmitting device. A plurality of power levels for the tone pattern can be determined. The plurality of power levels can include a respective power level determined for each resource element associated with the tone pattern. One or more of the tone pattern or the plurality of power levels can be used (e.g., transmitted to the transmitting device) for transmission of the reference signal (e.g., from the transmitting device to the receiving device).

An overlay code may be determined for the tone pattern. Information associated with the transmission of the reference signal using the tone pattern and the overlay code may be communicated by the receiving device.

Abstract: Aspects relate to mechanisms for wireless communication devices to reset a beam. A UE identifies a list of a plurality of component carriers (CCs). The UE detects a beam failure on a first CC of the plurality of CCs. The UE transmits a beam failure recovery request including a candidate beam indication of a candidate beam to a base station. The base station receives the beam failure recovery request and transmits a beam failure recovery response to the UE. The UE receives the beam failure recovery response and applies the candidate beam to at least one CC of the plurality of CCs. The UE may apply the candidate beam to every CC or to only the first CC. The UE may apply the candidate beam to the at least one CC of the plurality of CCs following a predetermined number of symbols after receiving the beam failure recovery response.
