    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for managing beam failure recovery operations. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) generally includes performing beam failure detection (BFD) of a beam pair link (BPL) associated with a secondary cell (Scell) of a base station (BS), sending a beam failure recovery request (BFRQ) message in another cell of the BS, the BFRQ message including an indication of a candidate recovery beam for the Scell, and starting a timer based on sending the BFRQ.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method includes a method for wireless communications at a base station. The method includes transmitting a message to a number of user equipments (UEs) over a single frequency network channel using a first beam sweep pattern. The method also includes identifying a second beam sweep pattern from a plurality of beam sweep patterns that is different from the first beam sweep pattern for retransmissions of the message. The method further includes transmitting a retransmission of the message to the plurality of UEs over the single frequency network channel using the second beam sweep pattern.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to assisting communications with low data payloads with relay nodes. An example method generally includes forming a first cluster with a first wireless node and one or more second wireless nodes, wherein each of the second wireless nodes has a low data rate demand relative to a system bandwidth. The method also includes determining to serve as a relay node for the first cluster, generating a first set of packets for uplink transmission to a base station, receiving a second set of packets from the one or more second wireless nodes, combining the first set of packets and the second set of packets into an uplink payload based on the determination, and transmitting, to the base station, the uplink payload based on the determination.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may configure a user equipment (UE) with a list of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state patterns where each entry in the list may correspond to a different TCI state pattern. The base station may transmit an indication of a selected entry from the TCI state pattern list and transmit a grant to the UE indicating that resources have been allocated in for transmitting a transport block (TB). The UE may receive the grant and attempt to receive the TB in accordance with the indicated TCI state pattern. The UE may generate multi-bit feedback to indicate whether the UE was able to successfully decode the TB and transmit the feedback to the base station. The base station may use the multi-bit feedback for determining whether to select a different TCI state pattern.

    Abstract: A configuration to configure a UE to activate a subset of configured SRS trigger states. The apparatus receives a configuration activating a subset of configured SRS trigger states. The apparatus receives DCI in a PDCCH triggering an aperiodic SRS transmission based on one or more SRS trigger states of activated SRS trigger states. The apparatus determines an aperiodic SRS resource set based on the configuration and the DCI indicating the one or more SRS trigger states. The apparatus transmits aperiodic SRS within the aperiodic SRS resource set.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a beam failure recovery scheduling request (BFR-SR) to a primary cell or a primary secondary cell base station based at least in part on detecting a beam failure associated with a secondary cell (SCell) link between the UE and an SCell base station. The UE may start a timer based at least in part on transmitting the BFR-SR. The UE may retransmit the BFR-SR based at least in part on the timer expiring prior to the UE receiving a response to acknowledge the BFR-SR and schedule transmission of a medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC-CE) including information to recover from the beam failure and/or the timer expiring prior to the UE transmitting the MAC-CE. Numerous other aspects are provided.
