Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relates to beam failure detection. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, after a serving cell is activated from a deactivated state, a terminal device monitors a beam failure on a serving beam of the serving cell. If a beam failure instance indication is received within a short period after the activation, the terminal device determines that the beam failure is detected on the serving beam. In this way, a beam failure recovery can be quicker triggered to perform candidate beam search.

Abstract: This disclosure presents apparatuses and methods to determine, assign, and communicate paging subgroups using assistance information. In some aspects, assistance information can include user equipment (UE) parameters, for example, UE capability parameters, UE type parameters, ID preference parameters, location parameters, or mobility parameters. In some aspects, assistance information can include network parameters, cell parameters, or information about a subset or all UEs registered on the network. The radio access network (RAN) or core network (CN) can utilize the assistance information to determine the number of paging subgroups and to assign one or more subsets of UEs to each paging subgroup. The RAN or CN can communicate the paging subgroups to one or more of the UEs within the network. In some aspects, the paging subgroup can be directly indicated to the UE. In some aspects, the paging subgroup can be derived by the UE using the received paging subgroup information.

Abstract: According to embodiments of the present disclosure, when an unknown secondary cell configured with a physical uplink control channel is activated, a terminal device determines whether to transmit beam information to a network. The terminal device receives a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) order in a beam which is selected in association with the beam information. In this way, a proper beam can be determined to transmit PDCCH order and it can also reduce delay.

The method comprises: receiving, from a second device, a first plurality of parameters associated with a connection resume procedure between the first device and the second device; in accordance with a determination that the connection resume procedure is to be performed, transmitting, in the inactive state and to the second device, a request for connection resume, the request comprising one or more of the first plurality of parameters; and performing the connection resume procedure with the second device. In this way, the terminal device is capable of triggering non-SDT procedure when the SDT procedure is ongoing.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to mobility for small data transmission (SDT) procedure. The first device, which is in an inactive state and served in a first cell of the second device, performs a session of small data transmission between the first device and the second device. The first device determines whether a potential cell reselection criterion is satisfied when the session of small data transmission is ongoing. If a potential cell reselection criterion is satisfied, the first device transmits, to the second device, first information indicating an intention of cell reselection. As such, if the cell reselection happens during SDT procedure, the second device is able to put the first device into either the inactive state or the connected state. Accordingly, already transmitted data is not lost in case cell reselection happens before the session of small data transmission is completed.

A method implemented at a first device comprises detecting a beam failure for a serving cell of the first device; in accordance with a determination that the beam failure is detected for the serving cell, triggering a procedure for a beam failure recovery for the serving cell; determining whether information related to the beam failure recovery is available for the serving cell; and in accordance with a determination that the information is unavailable, transmitting to a second device a first indication that the beam failure is detected and a second indication that no candidate beam is available. In this way, the full BFR information for the failed serving cells can be acquired finally, and more reliable and faster BFR can be achieved.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and devices for transmission by selecting between uplink resources. According to a method implemented by a terminal device in a communication system, a configuration of a first resource is received from a network device, the first resource being a grant-free resource. An uplink grant is received from the network device, indicating a second resource for use in a transmission time interval. The terminal device determines, based on the configuration of the first resource, whether the first resource is available in the transmission time interval. In response to determining that the first resource is available and possibly in response to a predefined condition associated with a logical channel for the terminal device is met, the terminal device transmits uplink data to the network device using the first resource.
