摘要： A chisel plow and a cold flow shoe for dispensing ammonia fertilizer into an earthen field are disclosed. The shoe includes a vapor tube for receiving ammonia vapor, and a liquid tube for receiving ammonia liquid from sources which can be mounted upon the plow. The vapor tube defines an orifice for dispensing the received ammonia vapor in a rearward direction into a trench formed by the plow chisel. The liquid tube defines a liquid dispenser orifice located immediately above and to the rear of the vapor dispensing orifice. Liquid ammonia is thus dispensed atop the previously dispensed ammonia vapor as the plow chisel moves through the ground and forms the trench. As earth collapses atop the dispensed ammonia, the ammonia is retained in positions located immediately adjacent growing crop plants, or adjacent those locations where plants will be grown. Effective, efficient ammonia fertilization is thus provided.

摘要： An automatic planting machine for planting plants particularly small and/or young trees, specially designed for forestation and/or reforestation and the like. The machine has, in each of its main wheels, at least one planting tube radially movable and capable of projecting through an aperture in the rim of the wheel coincident with the moment at which a plant is set in the furrow opened by the machine. To open the furrow in the soil, a furrow opening blade is provided in front of each main wheel. Behind each main wheel a pair of auxiliary rear wheels are provided which are capable of tamping the soil at the sides of the plant set in the furrow, and each of said auxiliary rear wheels may be sloped. Means are provided which are capable of feeding plants, one at a time, to each planting tube, the operation of said feeding means and the movement of each planting tube being timed with the rotation of the pertinent main wheel. The machine may be provided with means (e.g. hydraulic) for removing the main wheels from contacting the ground for transportation. A water reservoir and water feeding means may be provided for feeding water to the planted plants. Optionally, conveyor means for forwarding plant containing cases, may also be provided.

摘要： An apparatus is disclosed for injecting fertilizer into the soil. A soil working device includes a sweep with a nose portion that moves through the soil as the sweep is moved forward, a pair of trailing sections that diverge from the nose portion, and an upstanding mounting portion for mounting the sweep to a shank extending from the frame of an agricultural implement. A pair of wings extend rearwardly from the trailing sections of the sweep so as to be at opposite sides of a channel formed by the sweep. Each wing has a front portion that flares outwardly from the trailing section of the sweep and a rear portion that is inclined inwardly from the back of the front portion. Fertilizer is injected into the channel formed by the sweep and soil engaged by the wings is urged toward the channel to cover the same and enhance fertilizer retention in the channel. The apparatus is particularly useful for injecting anhydrous ammonia in liquid form into soil contact with the anhydrous ammonia being maintained under sufficient pressure to remain in a liquid state until brought into soil contact in the channel after which the anhydrous ammonia changes to a gaseous state.

摘要： Disclosed is a farm implement for incorporating chemicals sprayed on top of soil into a predetermined depth of the soil. The incorporator implement consists of a frame adapted to be suspended on a three point suspension mechanism of a tractor and two gangs of ground driven incorporator spiders, one in front of another. Each gang includes a forward row and a rearward row of the spiders with the forward row angled acutely to one side of the direction of travel of the implement and the rearward row angled acutely to the opposite side. In a second form we utilize gangs of incorporator spiders for post emergence chemical incorporation by arranging the incorporator spiders to work between the rows of plants and providing shield troughs for the plants. In a third form we utilize gangs of incorporator spiders disposed normal to the sloped banks of a narrow, single row, plant bed for post emergence incorporation.

摘要： An elongated downwardly opening housing is provided for lengthwise advancement over the ground and includes mounting structure for dependingly supporting the housing from a farm implement tool bar. The housing includes front and rear transverse journaled horizontal shafts each having a pair of axially spaced circumferentially spiked wheels mounted thereon for rotation therewith. Corresponding ends of the shafts project outwardly through opposite sides of the housing and have aligned sprocket wheels mounted thereon. The sprocket wheel carried by the forward shaft is at least slightly greater in diameter than the sprocket wheel carried by the rear shaft and an endless chain is trained over the sprocket wheels drivingly connecting the forward shaft or front shaft to the rear shaft. As the housing moves over the ground along rows in which crops are to be planted the spiked wheels or disks carried by the front shaft are turned by their engagement with the ground and the soil over which the spiked disks carried by the front shaft roll is loosened. Then, as the same strip of ground surface is contacted by the spiked disks carried by the faster rotating rear shaft, the loosened soil is further loosened and mulched. In addition to this structure, the housing includes a sheet of flexible resilient material extending between the sides of the housing forming the front, top, and rear walls therefor. At the rear end of the housing, this sheet of material projects downwardly below the sides of the housing to define a flexible ground sweep. Additionally, the housing is provided with chemical spray discharge structure whereby a suitable weed retardant or other chemical may be sprayed onto the ground or soil being acted upon by the spiked disks carried by the front shaft. One form of the invention disclosed is mounted for vertical floating movement to compensate for irregular ground surfaces and includes adjustable ground engaging gauge wheels.

摘要： Disclosed is a device which may be positioned in the soil to supply water, food or medication to the root system of growing plants. The device includes a tubular housing closely surrounding a removable rod member having a lower pointed end surface. The rod is threadedly engageable and disengageable within a female threaded connector rotatably carried at the upper end of the housing. When the rod is removed, the connector may be secured to the threaded male end of a water supply hose. The upper end of the rod includes an internally threaded socket which provides temporary storage for a threaded plug member which may be removed from the rod and employed with the female connector of the housing when the rod is removed and the hose is not being used. Tapered flanges are secured to the outer surface of the housing and are adapted to be positioned below the surface of the soil to prevent rotation and resist upward movement of the device. The device may be positioned during the initial planting of the plants to be treated or may be driven down into the root system of already growing plants.

摘要： Apparatus is disclosed for applying dry fertilizer or seeds beneath the soil including a plurality of hollow applicator knives to which dry fertilizer or seeds are fed from a hopper which is pulled by a traction vehicle along with the knives. There is also included a source of pressurized ammonia. Liquid ammonia is fed from the source to a conduit behind each knife and directed onto a ribbon of the dry particulate matter deposited at the bottom of each channel formed by the knives. Pressurized ammonia gas is coupled from the top of the source of ammonia into a distribution chamber equipped with one outlet for each knife. A pressure-regulating valve is connected between the distribution chamber and a nozzle located in the conduit coupling the fertilizer or seeds to each applicator knife. Hence, the pressurized gas assists in delivering the particulate matter to the applicator knives and in forcing the pellets or seeds into the channel cut by the knives.

Hose means lead from the tank to the individual plow blades and dispense fertilizer beneath the soil being turned over in the furrows. The hoses are held in position by novel wear-reducing clamps. A further embodiment combines a chisel plow and fertilizer dispenser. The plow blades have hoses mounted thereon by clamps. Some of the plow blades which are located rearwardly of other plow blades push the dirt into the furrows cut by the forwardly located plow blades and also cover the exhaust end of the hoses with dirt causing the fertilizer to be retained in the soil.
