Abstract:
A network round trip time measurement apparatus and method employ an allocated storage in the form of a double ended queue, to store data received while awaiting a corresponding receipt of data to allow the network round trip time to be determined. When the allocated size of the storage is exceeded, storage stops until such time as data is received to allow network round trip time to be determined on at least some of the already stored data, whereupon storage can resume. This allows use in high and low volume traffic situations to automatically scale back the amount of data processed, so as to not overtax available resources.
Abstract:
There is provided a network test apparatus that determines a geographic location, determines one or more carriers operating within one or more frequency bands for the determined geographic location, and displays, in response to the determined geographic location, each carrier operating at one or more frequency bands at the determined geographic location.
Abstract:
A user provides relevant information about the operating parameters of a machine to be monitored to a diagnostic instrument. The user also specifies a location of the machine to be monitored, an alarm level to be set, and the type of alert to be sent. The instrument then automatically generates appropriate an alarm threshold using a set of rules applied to the inputs. The instrument then transmits the alarm threshold to a removable stand-alone monitor. The stand-alone monitor acquires data about the machine, compares the date to the alarm threshold, and sends a user-specified alert when the alarm threshold has been reached. Using the diagnostic instrument and monitor, machines can be monitored for vibration, temperature, or a power parameter.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for adjusting the focus of a camera. A rotatable focus member, when rotated, effects movement of an indicator element. The position of the indicator element is sensed by a sensing element and is passed to a controller within the camera. The controller prompts a motor to drive a focusing element of the camera in response to changes in the sensed position of the indicator element. The focus member effects movement of the indicator element by way of rolling resistance as opposed to sliding friction, allowing for more consistent and controlled manipulation.
Abstract:
In at least one embodiment, a mobile measurement system includes a handheld device, a measurement device, and an optical sensing device. The measurement device and the optical sensing device are communicatively coupled to the handheld device. The handheld device receives measurement data that comprises at least one measured electrical parameter corresponding to a physical property of an external system. The measurement device generates measurement data that corresponds to a period of time. The measurement device communicates the generated measurement data to the handheld device. The optical sensing device generates optical data corresponding to an interface of the measurement device and the external system where the measurement data is being generated. The generated optical data corresponds to a particular time within the measurement period of time. The mobile measurement system associates and stores the generated optical data for the particular time with measurement data corresponding to the period of time.
Abstract:
A fault detector for fiber optic cabling is provided in a hand held device for detecting fiber faults, presence/absence of signal and wavelength of light present on an optical fiber. Audible and visual indicators of the fault/status and wavelength are provided.
Abstract:
Devices and methods for generating infrared (IR) images with improved quality are disclosed. In embodiments of the invention, temporal averaging techniques are used to reduce temporal noise that may be present in thermal images. This is especially useful in low-contrast thermal scenes, where a relatively small amount of thermal noise may become exceedingly prevalent. In order to average properly, some embodiments of the invention provide methods or means for aligning multiple images that are to be averaged together to eliminate inaccuracies and misrepresentations that may result from averaging misaligned images.
Abstract:
A thermal imaging camera with a repositionable focal plane array (FPA) is disclosed. An active portion of the FPA is used by the camera to generate a thermal image. The FPA may be positioned such that a defect in the FPA is located in an unused and inactive portion of the FPA.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed. The method includes capturing a first packet at a network monitoring card, capturing the first packet at a first filter, generating a first tag corresponding to the first filter and storing the first packet in memory with the first tag.
