摘要: A system including a quench system that may cool a syngas generated in a gasification chamber. The quench system includes a quench chamber, a dip tube that may direct the syngas from the gasification chamber into a quench liquid to cool the syngas to generate a cooled syngas, and a draft tube disposed circumferentially about the dip tube and that may receive the cooled syngas. A passage is disposed between a first wall of the dip tube and a second wall of the draft tube, and the draft tube includes a tapered configuration in a flow direction along the passage.

摘要: Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for cooling a work piece surface using two-phase impingement, such as direct jet impingement. Preferred method include flowing a coolant through a chamber comprising a surface to be cooled by projecting a jet stream of coolant against the surface while maintaining pressure in the chamber to permit at least a portion of coolant contacting the surface to boil. Preferred apparatuses include a chamber comprising the surface and tubular nozzles configured to project a stream of coolant against the surface, a pump for forcing coolant through the tubular nozzles, a pressurizer for maintaining an appropriate pressure in the chamber, and a heat exchanger for cooling the coolant exiting the chamber. The apparatuses may further include a pressure regulator for detecting changes in temperature of the coolant exiting the chamber and communicating with the pressurizer to adjust the maintained pressure accordingly. The methods and apparatuses disclosed herein provide for effective and efficient cooling or work piece surfaces.

摘要: A heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger body arranged along an axis and having an external surface in contact with a surrounding first fluid. The body defines a first fluid passage centered on and extending along the axis. The body also defines a second fluid passage extending parallel with respect to the axis and spaced away from the axis by a second passage distance, and a third fluid passage extending parallel with respect to the axis and spaced away from the axis by a third passage distance. The first, second, and third passages are parallel to one another, while the third passage distance is greater than the second passage distance. Each of the first and third passages is configured to accept a flow of a second fluid and the second fluid passage is configured to hold a volume of air to thermally insulate the first passage from the third passage.

摘要: A method and apparatus for removing and replacing an integral-motor fan from below. A support assembly has support struts fixed to a mounting ring. Mounting ring is configured to be fixed to the fan head, holding the fan in place, and support struts are configured to rest on mounting bolts fixed to a fan shroud. To mount a fan in place from below, the fan is fixed to the mounting ring of the support assembly, and the support assembly and attached fan are lifted into the fan shroud. The support assembly is rotated until the struts align with the support bolts in the fan shroud. The support assembly is then lowered until the struts come to rest on the support bolts. A power cable with a length sufficient to lower the fan support assembly out of the fan shroud prior to disconnecting the power cable from the fan body.
