摘要： A lifesaving craft comprises a flat-bottomed elongate buoyant structure 91) which on its lower side is free from projections and on its upper side has a number of grab means (5, 17, 20) and means for keeping a person in distress on the craft. At least at one of its two opposite ends (11, 12) the craft has to projections (13, 13') extending in prolongation of the sides of the craft, between which projections a preferably gently curved recess (14) is provided to receive and center the person in distress when he is taken up on the craft.

摘要： Scuba gear is disclosed for use by divers and the like for carrying a compressed air tank to provide an underwater source of oxygen, a backpack being adapted for securing the tank to the diver and including quick release components for permitting the diver to rapidly free himself of the tank, an inflatable transport raft being secured to the tank and held in compact and gathered form by releasable fasteners in order to permit the raft to open in response to internal inflation pressure, the backpack being adapted for connection to the diver's upper torso together with a separate vest type buoyancy compensator, the backpack being adapted to permit inflation of the buoyancy compensator if desired and also permitting separation of the tank with the buoyancy compensator remaining in place on the diver, the transport raft providing flotation for the tank when the tank is freed from the diver, the raft also providing transport for the diver on the surface of the water.

摘要： The miniboats introduced in my U.S. Pat. 4,090,270 were basically novel in configuration, method of construction, ease of boarding by a swimmer, flotation effectiveness relative to lightness and compactness when stowed, degree of hypothermia protection achieved, and security in wind and water far beyond the capabilities of comparable pneumatic craft of traditional design; but they were not well adapted for entry by persons desiring to board them without a wetting. The vessels disclosed herein have overcome that problem. They have structurally integrated decks with dry-access openings that provide twice the retained buoyancy, a barrier to wave influx over the gunwales, an inherent self-righting capability, unprecedented storm security, ride stability, and magnified hypothermia protection. Some have integral leg articulation and propulsion and/or vessel-integrated suspension system for retarding descent to water from high elevations, auxiliary propulsion provisions, etc. Models sharing design characteristics of these life-support craft are highly adapted for expansion of seasonal, latitude, and ambulatory opportunity for scientific work and for recreation. Their diminutive weight and bulk enable transport to shores and banks that become inaccessible when carrying watercraft of greater weight and bulk and lesser portageability, seaworthiness, and wide-spectrum protective capability.

摘要： A life raft of the inflatable type comprising a circular shaped floating body of elastic material which may be inflated by a source of compressed air and in which a floor of elastic material is stretched over the inner opening of the circular body. The raft is provided with a canopy which is arranged on both sides of the raft and which is adapted to be automatically erected by means of elements attached to the floating body, the arrangement being such that when the walls of the floating body are stretched by the compressed air, the movement of the walls is transferred to the aforesaid elements which thereby erect the canopies on both sides of the raft.

The invention contemplates an inflatable, elongated float, which may be secured to the side of a watercraft and of sufficient size, when paired with a similar float secured to the opposite side of the watercraft, is capable of supporting the same.
