    摘要： In a first embodiment, a first fabric layer has gelatinous strips, thereby separating the first fabric layer into sections. A second fabric layer is positioned upon the first fabric layer, and an underwire is positioned on the second fabric layer opposite the first fabric layer. The first fabric layer is then folded onto itself to enclose the second fabric layer and the underwire. In a second embodiment, a third, or intermediate, fabric layer is positioned between the first and second fabric layers. In a third embodiment, an underwire is surrounded by a first, non-woven fabric layer. A second, rigid-type fabric having a bladder with a gelatinous material is positioned on the first fabric. The first fabric is wrapped around the underwire, and the bladder is positioned against the body of the wearer.

    摘要： A garment adapted to support a female chest includes a pair of frontal cup portions of flexible material adapted to cover the chest area of a wearer, each of the cup portions having a perimeter. A multifilament twisted and drawn or swaged cable support element is attached to a portion of the perimeter to provide support for each cup in a manner which is comfortable to the wearer. The multifilament twisted and drawn or swaged cable support element is preferably comprised of a plurality of nickel-titanium wires or a plurality of stainless steel wires, which were formed by first twisting multiple filaments together and then drawing the twisted filaments through multiple dies and/or swaging to form a cable. The multifilament twisted and drawn or swaged cable provides superior support and comfort.

    摘要： A plastic support which has a substantially U-shape configuration and has a base portion and a pair of end portions with the base portion and the end portions having a different cross-sectional configuration. The plastic support also has a pair of regions positioned between the base portion and a different one of the pair of end portions, and in a preferred embodiment the pair of regions is a pair of intermediate portions each having a cross-sectional configuration different than that of the base portion and the pair of end portions. The plastic support is, preferably, made of a mixture of reinforced acetal resin and nonreinforced acetal resin, and exhibits unexpected "creep" properties such that the end portions thereof are closer together after machine laundering at a normal cycle than their initial condition.

    摘要： A brassiere is disclosed in which each of the breast cups thereof includes inner and outer layers of material between which is defined an interior pocket. The pocket of each cup contains a stiffening means, preferably in the form of a generally U-shaped fabric enclosed underbust wire stay. Preferably, such stiffening means are secured for a major portion of their length to lower edge portions of the inner and outer layers of the breast cups which edge portions extend into the aforedescribed pockets whereby each stiffening means is free to float with respect to the major surface area of the inner and outer layers of each breast cup. Minor portions of the lengths of each stiffening means are loosely joined to one another (through a fabric joining member) but are free to float within a passageway joining the interior pocket of each breast cup. In this manner, the brassiere of the invention is free to accomodate itself to the size and shape of the bust of the wearer rather than restraining the bust in the manner of a conventional wire bra. A horizontally seamed breast cup construction which eliminates the vertical center section of a typical wire bra further permits the bra of the invention to adopt itself to a woman''s bust and provide in a wire bra the newer, soft, unaccentuated look.
