Abstract:
A jointed fishing hook is provided. The jointed fishing hook includes a top shank and a bottom shank. The top shank includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the top shank forms a first eye. The bottom shank includes a first end and a second end. The second end of the bottom shank includes a bend forming a hook. The second end of the top shank is pivotally connected to the first end of the bottom shank. Therefore, the bottom shank may freely move relative to the top shank.
Abstract:
A yarn object which, even though made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, can be satisfactorily prevented from color fading caused by contact with other objects or the like, can be produced easily at low cast, and can maintain high strength. The yarn object is colored with a colorant. The yarn object includes a core yarn 2 colored with a predetermined colorant and an outer-layer yarn 3 disposed on the periphery of the core yarn. The outer-layer yarn 3 is disposed in such a manner that the core yarn 2 is prevented from contacting with other objects. The outer-layer yarn 3 includes a transparent filament and a space 4 is formed between the outer-layer yarns 3. The color applied to the core yarn 2 is externally visible through the transparent outer-layer yarn 3 and the space therebetween 4.
Abstract:
A fish line having a red color defined by a hue value of a LCH measurement of a colorimeter of between −11.5 and −13.5 is shown to get more strikes than fish line of other colors, thereby providing the user with an opportunity to catch more fish. The red fish line includes a red colorant which provides increased abrasion resistance compared to fish line comprised of the same synthetic or natural materials but a different or no colorant.
Abstract:
A slip clip line apparatus designed for use with fishing floats and sinkers to aid in their attachment to a fishing line. The slip clip has a slip body which engages the fishing line and allows the slip clip to slide freely along a predetermined length of fishing line. The slip body is a U-shaped apparatus having an open and centrally located line slip which is substantially closed. The slip clip further has a lower insertion body which may be connected to a piece of tubing that in turn may be connected to a float or a sinker.
Abstract:
An elastic fishing device for securing a fishing line directly to a support on or near the water's edge has an elongated elastic member adjustably mounted on a spool which has a winding portion. The elongated elastic member is a shock cord that can be stored on the spool when the device is not in use. Additionally, the device can be adjusted to fit various sized supports and to fish at selected depths.
Abstract:
The present invention describes floating devices with adjustable floating and buoyancy capabilities. Such a float can facilitate as an improved fishing float device whose weight can be changed based on fishing conditions and fishing locations. Another use for the invention can be on floating ropes dividing swimming lanes.
Abstract:
An Adjustable Trolling Device, or dodger, consisting of a flat primary body and configured to be removably attached at one or more points along its edge to a primary fishing line, and at other points on its edge, at least some of which may be substantially opposite to the point where it is affixed to the primary fishing line, to trailing fishing bait, or lures. The device has an attached mounting surface, rotatable through 360°, or a specified range, projecting one or more guiding fins, substantially perpendicular to the rotatable mounting surface. The mounting surface, by its nature, may be rotated to place the guiding fins at alternate desired angles from the leading fishing line, so that movement of the dodger through the water may produce a variety of rotation or roll characteristics of the dodger and, correspondingly, the trailing bait or lures.
Abstract:
Methods of manufacturing fly fishing lines with very low specific gravities entail adding polymer microspheres to a base coating and coating a core with the base coating containing the added polymer microspheres. To manufacture fly lines having multiple coatings, a second coating, which may contain polymer or glass microspheres, is disposed around a first coating that contains polymer microspheres.
Abstract:
A detachable sinker automatically detaches from fishing line after immersion in water. The sinker includes weight attachable to the line by means of a rapidly disintegrating water soluble material. The disintegrating material may comprise a product that when dry withstands a casting load and when wet rapidly dissolves. The weight may be biodegradable or dissolvable. The sinker may include a wildlife attractant released by the disintegrating material or by the dissolvable weight, may be rated according to an approximate time or depth at which the weight or attractant will release from the line, may display readable indicia corresponding to a weight value, a release time, or a depth, and may include an attachment means coupling the disintegrating material to the line, such as an elongated clamp for compressing the fishing line and the disintegrating material, a mass of moldable adhesive, or a perforated attachment for threading the disintegrating material therethrough. The sinker may be an assembly including the detachable sinker and a fixed sinker.
Abstract:
Leaders for use in fly fishing are described. The leader is connected between a fly line and a tippet section. In one embodiment, the leader includes a first section of wire connected to the fly line and a second section of polymeric monofilament. The section of wire can be a shape memory alloy or a superelastic alloy. Nitinol is a preferred alloy for use in the wire section of the leader. The section of wire is attached to the second section of polymeric monofilament. One of more sections of wire can be used in the leader. Each of the sections of wire can be tapered. Additionally, one or more sections of polymeric monofilament can be used in the leader. In another embodiment of the present invention, a single section or multiple sections of wire, preferably shape memory alloy wire or superelastic alloy wire, can be used. The wire leader is able to store mechanical energy generated by the cast allowing the leader to function as intended with greater frequency.
