Abstract:
A recording medium take-up mechanism and a printer prevent a recording medium having been printed from easily twisting when winding the recording medium. A printer includes a platen supporting recording paper that is delivered frontward during printing, a take-up shaft on which the recording paper having been printed is wound, a tension bar configured to impart tension to the recording paper by pressing a portion of the recording paper that is between the platen and the take-up shaft, a support arm supporting the tension bar, and a support shaft pivotably supporting the support arm. A center of the support shaft is positioned inside a contour of the take-up shaft, as viewed in an axial direction of the support shaft.
Abstract:
A method for setting up and/or operating a web-fed printing press includes winding a material web onto a roller, printing a portion of the material web, then unwinding and removing an unprinted part of the material web located before from the roller, and then fixing a cut start of the printed material web to the take-up roller. During the method, the material web is first conveyed backward for the unprinted part to be cut off, then a drive of the material web is switched to a holding mode, in which the material web stands still while maintaining web tension, the material web is drawn from a web start in direction of the take-up roller with little tensile force and the web start is fixed to the take-up roller. A web-fed printing press for carrying out the method is also provided.
Abstract:
A inkjet printer has a mechanism to counter change in the tension of the recording medium to convey the recording medium with more precision. In a method, the position or movement of a movable member is detected by a detector, and the recording medium is conveyed based on output from the detector so that the movable member is maintained in or urged back to a set position. Also, one or more operations are stopped when the movable member moves outside of an allowable movement range. Which operation(s) is or are stopped depends on whether the movable member moves outside its allowable range in a direction that increases or decreases the tension in the recording medium.
Abstract:
A process of configuring a web-fed printer is disclosed. Parameters for a web of printable media used in the web-fed printer and for print density are received. The parameters are applied to determine tension of the printable media and speed of the printable media through a print engine of the web-fed printer.
Abstract:
A printer 1 has a movable member 27 that can move following change in the tension on recording paper 3 between a roll paper compartment 7 and a conveyance mechanism 12 on the paper conveyance path 8. When recording paper 3 of which the end is glued to the core 2a of a paper roll 2 runs out, the tension on the recording paper 3 rises and the movable member 27 goes to a tension-side error determination range E1 in its range of allowable movement E0. When the movable member 27 is in the tension-side error determination range E1, the time the movable member 27 remains in the tension-side error determination range E1 is counted, and if this measured time exceeds an error determination time, an error detection unit 38 detects an error. No-paper errors can therefore be detected without using a dedicated sensor.
Abstract:
A printer for inkjet printing on a flexible substrate. It has a print-head for printing on the flexible substrate in a printing area, and a transport and tensioning mechanism for transporting the flexible substrate in a feed direction relative to the printing area and applying tension to it. The tension applied to the flexible substrate causes a substrate elongation. The printer is arranged to measure the substrate elongation caused by the tension applied to the flexible substrate and compensate for the substrate elongation by at least one of modifying the defined transport of the flexible substrate, and translating the print-head relative to the printing area.
Abstract:
An image recording device comprising: a transport unit that transports a recording medium from a first drive roller to a second drive roller by rotating the first drive roller and the second drive roller across which a recording medium is stretched, a detection unit that detects tension of the recording medium between the first drive roller and the second drive roller, a support member that supports the recording medium between the detection unit and the second drive roller, a recording unit that ejects liquid on the recording medium supported on the support member and records an image, and a control unit that gives tension to the recording medium by controlling the torque of the second drive roller based on the recording medium tension detected by the detection unit.

Abstract:
An image recording device includes: a conveyor unit for conveying a recording medium; a drum for rotating under force of friction against the recording medium being conveyed by the conveyor unit, the recording medium being wound around the drum; and a recording unit for recording an image onto a portion, wound around the drum, of the recording medium being conveyed by the conveyor unit; the conveyor unit starting the conveyance of the recording medium in a state where a first tension has been applied to the recording medium, but executing a switching operation for switching the tension applied to the recording medium after the conveyance of the recording medium has been started, to a second tension that is lower than the first tension.
Abstract:
A printer comprises a paper holding section, a conveying section, a printing section and a buffer section. The buffer section, which is arranged at the downstream side of the paper conveying direction of the paper holding section and the upstream side of the paper conveying direction of the conveying section, extends in the width direction of the paper orthogonal to the paper conveying direction and has a propping member that is propped against the paper surface of paper and a pair of elastic support sections that are connected with the two ends of the propping member in the width direction and press the propping member on the paper surface of the paper using an elastic force, wherein the pair of elastic support sections are connected with the propping member in such a manner that each of the elastic support sections can act separately.
