Abstract:
A computer platform embedded operating system backup switching handling method and system is proposed, which is designed for use with a computer platform for providing an embedded operating system backup switching handling function, and which is characterized by the provision of an operating system health status flag for indicating whether the embedded operating system code has been previously successfully loaded, such that the next time the computer platform is started, the operating system health status flag can be checked to see if the embedded operating system code is corrupted; if YES, a backup copy of operating system code is used for booting. This feature allows the computer platform to more quickly judge whether the embedded operating system code is corrupted, without having to use the more time-wasting checksum method, so that the booting of the computer platform can be more efficiently carried out.
Abstract:
A water-repellent structure and a method for fabricating the same are provided. The method adopts an atmospheric pressure plasma deposition (APPD) technique to form a hardened coating having a rough surface on a substrate, and form a water-repellent coating on the rough surface. Because the water-repellent structure includes the hardened coating and the water-repellent coating, hardness, abrasion-resistance, transparency and hydrophobicity of the water-repellent structure are improved. The hard water-repellent structure protects the substrate from friction. Moreover, because the present invention adopts the APPD technique to form the water-repellent structure, the cost of production is reduced dramatically. Thus, the present invention can solve drawbacks of prior art.
Abstract:
A memory control method for restoring data in a cache memory is proposed, which is applied in a computer device having Linux Operating System, and the computer device has a spare battery for supplying spare power to go on to store cached data into a cache memory unit, the temporary data can be backed up quickly, seriously and efficiently without significantly modifying a memory management core of the Linux system, thereby preventing operational efficiency of the computer device from decreasing, avoiding the designing and fabricating cost from adding, and also avoiding the problem such that the cached content can not be stored since memory has been initialized by Linux system once the system is started every time, as well even making the temporary data in the cache memory restored to disk without influencing structure of Linux Operating System itself, when the computer device is restarted after powering off abnormally.
Abstract:
A system and method for searching target devices within the same subnet for connecting target devices to a master control device in a network. A first query packet is broadcasted by the master control device after being activated via the network to query the IP addresses of all target devices on the network. The master control device stores the IP addresses replied by the target devices in response to the first query packet while the target devices receiving the first query packet store the IP address of the master control device included in the first query packet.
Abstract:
A data protection method applicable in a data storage system is proposed, so that data stored by a user in a plurality of memory units in the data storage system are prevented from being damaged due to damaged memory blocks in two of the memory units corresponding to each other. When reading data from a particular memory unit by a user is unsuccessful, the method reconstructs the data, rewrites the data into an undamaged memory block of the memory unit and delivers the data to the user. Thus, the method achieves the data protection purpose by allowing data to be read successfully through data reconstructing and rewriting, even when two corresponding memory blocks of storage units storing the same data are damaged.
Abstract:
A world wide port name embedding method and interface is proposed, which is designed for use in conjunction with a network transmission control chip for the purpose of embedding a world wide port name (WWPN) to the network transmission control chip, and which is characterized by that the world wide port name embedding procedure can be performed under the condition that the driver program is readily loaded in the network transmission control chip, rather than utilizing an independent WWPN embedding routine that runs under the condition that the driver program is unloaded in the network transmission control chip. This feature can help prevent conflict in system configurations due to multiple initialization processes on the network transmission control chip, and also allows the implementation to be more simplified and cost-effective than the prior art.
Abstract:
A cyclically-interleaved access requests queuing method and system is proposed, which is designed for use in conjunction with an access control interface that is coupled between a computer system cluster (such as a server cluster) having multiple independent processing units and a data storage unit, and which is characterized by the use of a cyclically-interleaved queuing manner, rather than a sequential queuing manner, to queue the multiple sequences of access-request commands from the multiple processing units in the computer system cluster, which allows the overall access operations to the data storage unit to be more efficient than prior art.
Abstract:
A batch processing wakeup/sleep mode switching control method and system is proposed, which is designed for use with an information platform for controlling the switching of a data processing module between wakeup mode and sleep mode during the processing of data packages in a batch-type manner to help reduce the rate of switching and thereby increase performance of data processing. The proposed wakeup/sleep mode switching control method and system is characterized by that the data processing unit is switched back to sleep mode only when no more data packages are received and stored in a temporary data storage module, rather than the conventional method of switching to sleep mode at the completion of the processing on each single data package. This batch-type switching control scheme can help reduce the rate of switching between wakeup mode and sleep mode and thereby increase the performance of data processing.
Abstract:
A computer system for dynamically accessing externally connecting storage devices is provided, which is connected with or separated one or more of the storage devices via a hot plug connection. The computer system includes a connection interface, an I/O control circuit, a system control circuit, an interface control circuit, and a central processing unit. The central processing unit determines whether the connection status between the storage devices and the I/O control circuit has changed, and, if so, executes an interrupt service sequence. During the interrupt service, the central processing unit loads the corresponding interface settings into the interface control circuit for accessing the storage devices according to the current number of connected storage devices and their corresponding configuration association.
