    摘要: The invention provides generally a new type of organic electrochromic Near Infrared (NIR)-active materials capable of absorbing and attenuating the light in the NIR region around 1550 nm and forming thin films on electrodes for variable optical attenuator (VOA) applications. They have utility in planar VOA devices. The materials are ruthenium complexes. Unsymmetrical complexes having two different substituents are disclosed, where one substituent is more electron-donating than the other. Complexes which are dimers or trimers (symmetrical or unsymmetrical) are disclosed, as are polymeric complexes. Crosslinked polymeric complex films are also disclosed.

    摘要: An ultraviolet (UV) light filtration system, method and device for converting a pair of standard eyeglasses to a pair of sunglasses. A sheet of static cling vinyl is treated to impart UV-absorbent characteristics to the sheet. The sheet is preferably cut by a computerized cutting machine to the size and shape of the eyeglass lenses. Alternatively, the sheet may be molded in an injection mold to the desired size and shape. The vinyl sheet has a thickness that permits a static electricity charge on a surface of the sheet to hold the sheet on the eyeglass lenses.

    摘要: A multifocal contact lens structured to provide simultaneous distant and near vision includes a transparent lens body having an inner concave surface and an outer convex surface. The lens body has an aspherical central portion structured to provide distant vision and an adjacent annular spherical portion structured to provide near vision. The aspherical central portion, and annular spherical portion may be provided on the inner surface of the lens. In an alternate embodiment, a spherical central near vision portion and an annular aspheric distance vision portion may be employed. The spherical and aspherical portions merge in a gradual manner to avoid undesired liner of demarcation therebetween. A method of manufacturing a multifocal contact lens structured to provide simultaneous near and distant vision may include providing a contact lens blank having an outer surface and an inner surface and creating a generally spherical configuration in the inner surface, converting a center portion of the spherical concave inner surface into an aspherical configuration, and creating a generally spherical convex annular configuration in the outer surface. The method may be modified to provide the alternate embodiment.
