Disclosed are methods, apparatus, systems, and computer program products for identifying relevant feed items to display in a feed of an enterprise social networking system. A plurality of data items from one or more of a plurality of data sources may be identified as relevant to a user by satisfying one or more relevancy parameters comprising: a data source providing the data item being one of an inner circle of data sources, content of the data item being identifiable using an interest graph associated with the user, the data item comprising a mention of the user, and the data item being designated as relevant to a group or an organization with which the user is associated. A highlights feed can include the identified data items as feed items. The feed items can be arranged according to a determined characteristic of each data item.
Abstract:
Disclosed are techniques for combining feed items for presentation in a feed. For example, two feed items having different timestamps are processed. When the feed items are associated with the same database record and when a difference between the timestamps is less than or equal to a threshold, the feed items can be combined to produce a representative feed item. The representative feed item is configured to present information characterizing updates of the feed items outside of a chronological sequence of feed items in a feed when displayed on a display device.

The method may involve: identifying a plurality of related updates to a record; configuring a single smart post to include underlying content from each of the plurality of related updates, and a visual cue distinct from the substantially homogeneous format; and displaying the smart post in the feed.
