A method of controlling interference of relay nodes and node pairs in a multi-hop network, includes relaying signals received from source nodes among the node pairs to destination nodes pairing with the source nodes, and cancelling a part of interference signals between the node pairs by controlling channel coefficients of the relay nodes. The destination nodes are configured to cancel residual interference signals among the interference signals, using the signals received by the destination nodes.

A Relay Station (RS), and a corresponding method of performing scheduling at an RS in a mobile communication network are provided. The RS and corresponding method receive channel state information and scheduling information from an apparatus associated with the RS, the scheduling information defining scheduling parameters for downlink transmission of data. The RS and corresponding method also obtain updated scheduling parameters based on the scheduling information, the channel state information, and an amount of the data.

Provided are a communication method and apparatus for device-to-device (D2D). More particularly, the communication method for D2D includes configuring a network topology using at least one cooperating base station to communicate among devices included in multiple heterogeneous cells, creating an association between multiple device pairs and at least one base station based on configuring the network topology, and determining a cooperation context for communication among the multiple device pairs is provided. The communication apparatus carries out such a method.

Provided are a base station and a plurality of member nodes for transmitting and receiving network coding based multicast traffic. The base station may transmit multicast traffic, and the member node may transmit an acknowledgement (ACK) signal based on received multicast traffic. A determination made be made as to whether the multicast traffic is to be retransmitted, based on a number of member nodes transmitting ACK signals.

The method includes determining idle devices cooperating to manage interference in the communication based on a transmission mode determined for communication. The cooperative communication system includes a transmitter that generates a codeword from data blocks based on a long message encoding scheme, and multicasts a signal including the codeword; relays, each relay configured to receive the multicasted signal, encode the multicasted signal using a encoding scheme independent from encoding schemes of other relays to generate a random-mapped signal of the data blocks, and relay the random-mapped signal of the data blocks; and a receiver that receives signals relayed by the relays, and generates the data blocks from the signals based on a joint decoding scheme.
