    Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display including: an insulating substrate; and a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix shape over the insulating substrate. The pixels include a display pixel disposed in a display region and a dummy pixel disposed in a dummy region, the dummy region is disposed outside the display region, and the display pixel includes a liquid crystal layer injected into a microcavity.

    Abstract: A display device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present inventive concept includes: a substrate; a data line and a thin film transistor disposed on the substrate; a common electrode and a pixel electrode disposed on the thin film transistor and overlapping each other by interposing an insulating layer therebetween; a roof layer formed to be separated from the pixel electrode and the common electrode while interposing a microcavity therebetween and having an injection hole partially exposing the microcavity; a liquid crystal layer filling the microcavity; an overcoat formed on the roof layer to cover the injection hole and sealing the microcavity. The pixel electrode includes an auxiliary electrode that is formed on the data line, the auxiliary electrode overlapping and being insulated from the data line.

    Abstract: A curved display device includes: a substrate including a display area; a plurality of thin film transistors disposed on the substrate; a plurality of pixel electrodes respectively connected to the plurality of thin film transistors; a liquid crystal layer disposed on the pixel electrodes and filling a plurality of microcavities; a common electrode facing the plurality of pixel electrodes and separated with the plurality of microcavities; and a roof layer formed on the common electrode. The plurality of microcavities are formed in a matrix form including a plurality of columns and rows, and the display area includes an edge portion and a center portion. A first height of the plurality of microcavities formed at the edge portion of the display area is lower than that a second height of the plurality of microcavities formed at the center portion of the display area. An area of a pixel disposed at the edge portion of the display area may be adjusted such that light leakage and spots at the edge portion may be improved.

    Abstract: A manufacturing method of a liquid crystal display includes forming a sacrificial layer on a liquid crystal panel, forming an etch stop layer on the sacrificial layer, forming a photo resist pattern on the etch stop layer, completing the etch stop layer using the photo resist pattern as a mask, ashing the photo resist pattern and the sacrificial layer by using the completed etch stop layer as a mask, forming a microcavity by removing a portion of the sacrificial layer and forming a liquid crystal layer in the microcavity.
