Abstract: A polyethylene composition having increased environmental stress crack resistance comprises a polymer blend of a multimodal high density polyethylene (HDPE) and an additive of at least one of a polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) having an average molecular weight (Mw) of at least 2000, and a random block copolymer comprising two different saturated alkane blocks between two aromatic hydrocarbon blocks. The additive is present in the polymer blend in an amount of from 1 wt. % or less by weight of the polymer blend.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a polymer composition comprising—polycarbonate; -(meth)acrylic polymer; and-≥1.0 and ≤10.0 wt % polyalkylene glycol with regard to the total weight of the polymer composition. Such polymer composition can be produced by for example a conventional compounding process using melt extrusion, wherein polycarbonates and PMMA can be converted into a polymer composition having the desired properties without need for using dedicated process equipment.

Abstract: A polyethylene composition having increased environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) is comprised of a polymer blend of a high density polyethylene (HDPE) and a polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer. The polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer is present in the polymer blend in an amount of from 0.5 wt. % to 15 wt. % by total weight of the polymer blend. In a method of forming a polyethylene composition having increased ESCR, a HDPE is modified by combining the HDPE with a polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer in a polymer blend, the polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer being present in an amount of from 0.5 wt. % to 15 wt. % by total weight of the polymer blend. The polymer blend can be formed into an article of manufacture, such as a bottle cap.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for manufacturing a functionally graded polymer material. A method comprises preparing a melted polymer mixture comprising a thermoplastic polymer and a magnetic filler; molding the melted polymer mixture; and applying a magnetic field to a portion of the melted polymer mixture to form the functionally graded article, wherein as the melted polymer mixture flows into the mold, the melted polymer mixture comes into contact with the magnet field. Another method comprises molding the melted polymer mixture; and applying a magnetic field from a first magnet to a first portion of the melted polymer mixture and applying a magnetic field from a second magnet to a second portion of the melted polymer mixture to form the functionally graded article, wherein the first magnet and the second magnet are positioned in a manner such that the magnetic field produced by each are nonoverlapping.
