Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which radio units (RUs), distributed units (DUs), or combinations thereof, may have a single hardware configuration that may be configured to implement different functions for radio frequency (RF) and baseband processing at a base station. A desired functionality for a RU or DU may be identified, and the RU or DU may be configured to implement the functionality through run-time configuration or boot images to implement a particular set of functions that may be needed for a particular cell or deployment. A RU or DU may be reconfigured following an initial configuration to perform different functions following the reconfiguration.

Abstract: A method for wireless communication includes monitoring a channel of a radio frequency spectrum band using at least a first receiver and a second receiver in parallel; determining, during the monitoring, at least a first received signal strength of a first receiver output of the first receiver, and a second received signal strength of a second receiver output of the second receiver; and selecting, based on the first received signal strength and the second received signal strength, one or both of the first receiver output or the second receiver output for use in decoding a candidate information signal of unknown signal strength. The first and second receivers are set to first and second fixed gain state providing the first and second receivers with first and second dynamic ranges. The second dynamic range partially overlaps the first dynamic range to provide the wireless device an extended dynamic range.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication at a wireless device, such as a base station, a user equipment, a customer premises equipment (CPE), etc. Some such wireless devices may communicate using beamformed transmissions, which may focus transmission energy in a particular direction. In accordance with the described techniques, a wireless device (e.g., which may or may not use beamforming) may detect an object within an energy mitigation area proximate to the wireless device. The wireless device may determine an allowable energy density at the object based at least in part on the object detection. The wireless device may adjust at least one radio frequency (RF) transmission parameter based at least in part on the allowable energy density at the object.
