Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may be enabled for voice over long term evolution (VoLTE). The UE may include an audio layer to encode and decode voice information and a packet layer to transmit voice packets. The packet layer may store parameters related to a discontinuous reception (DRX) in a shared memory. The audio layer may obtain the DRX parameters and encode voice information based on the parameters. For example, the audio layer coding may be synchronized with the wake period of the DRX cycle. The audio layer may encode voice information during a wake up period of the packet layer DRX cycle, and the packet layer may transmit the voice packets while awake. The audio layer may perform back to back encodings at the beginning of the DRX cycle. The packet layer may extend the wake period to transmit the voice packets.
Abstract:
Various embodiments in the disclosure provide methods implemented by a processor executing on a mobile communication device to dynamically determining whether the power saved by powering down the RF chain between the end of the last reception activities and the beginning of the next reception activities will exceed the power expended to reinitialize the RF chain's components and registers for the next reception activities. Based on this determination, the device processor may configure the RF chain either to power down fully, as in conventional implementations, or to enter a low-power mode in which power is maintained to the power rails supplying the memory registers storing RF communication data, thereby avoiding the power surge of restarting the registers and part of the power drain associated with writing the communication data back into the registers. In some embodiments, the mobile communication device may be a multi-SIM device.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) prioritizes searches and/or measurements of neighbor cells/frequencies based on a level of mobility of a UE. In one instance, the UE identifies a priority of a layer of a radio access technology (RAT) to be measured or searched and identifies a level of mobility of the UE. A sensor module of the UE may determine the level of mobility of the UE and generate an indication corresponding to the level of mobility of the UE. The UE prioritizes a periodicity of interlayer search and/or measurement based on the priority of the layer to be measured and the level of the mobility of the UE.
