Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to apply new radio high-speed train mode determination and false alarm suppression in HST deployments. The UE combines a plurality of indications associated with a high-speed train (HST) mode detection into a consolidated HST mode configuration signal. The UE determines whether to suppress the consolidated HST mode configuration signal based on a mobility metric of the UE and a plurality of thresholds. The UE transitions into a HST mode when the consolidated HST mode configuration signal is not suppressed based on the mobility metric of the UE exceeding at least one of the plurality of thresholds. As a result, false HST mode flags may be avoided and HST mode detection success rates may thereby be improved.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may compare an external list of ping pong handovers or redirections that is maintained by an access point, and an internal list of ping pong handovers or redirections that is maintained by the UE. The UE may identify a ping pong detection criterion, for a handover or redirection between a first network node and a second network node, based, at least in part, on the external list, the internal list, both the external list and the internal list, or neither of the external list nor the internal list indicating a previous ping pong handover or redirection between the first network node and the second network node. The example method also includes communicating with the network node based on a communication state of the UE, the communication state of the UE based at least in part on a history of measurements performed on the one or more signals received over the time period.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) are described. The UE may identify that the UE is operating in a high mobility environment, that a first reference signal received power associated with a first cell is decreasing, and that a second reference signal received power associated with a second cell is increasing. The UE may transmit a request for a handover from the first cell to the second cell based on the identifying, the transmitting performed at a time that may be based on one or more network-configured handover timing parameters having one or more values adjusted by the UE. The UE may receive a handover command in response to transmitting the request for handover. The UE may perform a handover from the first cell to the second cell in response to the handover command.

Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to apply CFO compensation to resolve mismatched RAPIDs caused by uplink Doppler shifts in HST deployments. The UE obtains one or more RARs each including a RAPID, where each of the RARs is responsive to a random access message including a preamble. The UE determines, in each of a threshold number of the one or more RARs, that the RAPID of a corresponding RAR is different than the preamble of a corresponding random access message. The UE then offsets a carrier frequency for each of one or more subsequent random access messages in response to the determination. As a result, mismatched RAPIDs due to uplink Doppler shifts may be avoided and RACH success rates may thereby be improved.
