Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for wireless communication in mobile device that includes operating communication resources according to a first subscription to establish an active call at a certain transmit power. Aspects of the methods and apparatus include tuning away the communication resources to operate according to a second subscription. Aspects of the methods and apparatus include tuning back the communication resources to the first subscription from the second subscription. Aspects of the methods and apparatus also include calculating an adjusted transmit power for the first subscription and operating the first subscription on the adjusted transmit power.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may search for a first network associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) during a first time period in a RAT search cycle. The UE may search, when service is not acquired, for a second network associated with a second RAT during a second time period in the RAT search cycle. The UE may identify a radio frequency (RF) spectrum overlap in which a first RF band associated with the first RAT overlaps with a second RF band associated with the second RAT. When service is not acquired with respect to the second RAT, the UE may scan for RF energy corresponding to the second RF band of the second RAT. Then, the UE may determine whether to perform a subsequent search for the first network in the first RF band of the first RAT.
Abstract:
A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes: operating in a Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) mode in which a first subscriber identity module (SIM) is designated as a default data subscription (DDS); transmitting a sounding reference signal (SRS) from a communication port of the UE, wherein the SRS has a timing offset assigned by a network associated with the first SIM; receiving paging messages from a network associated with a second SIM; determining an offset adjustment to avoid a collision between the SRS and the paging messages; sending a request to the network associated with the first SIM to adjust the timing offset according to the offset adjustment; and receiving an offset change configuration from the network associated with the first SIM.
Abstract:
The various embodiments provide methods for implementing a forced reselection strategy after causing colliding subscriptions to perform reselection to neighboring cells. In various embodiments, the MSMS communication device may undo the effects of forced reselection in certain situations when continuing to employ forced reselection may be ineffective. In other embodiments, the MSMS communication device may force reselecting subscriptions to reselect to neighboring cells in a paging group based on the page timings of the neighboring cells. Thus, the various embodiments may increase the performance of the colliding subscriptions and may enhance the user's overall experience.

Abstract:
Aspects of apparatus and methods for wireless communication include starting to perform a manual public land mobile network (PLMN) search by a user equipment (UE); while the manual PLMN search is ongoing, scanning one or more frequency bands to determine an available cell; and determining whether to camp on the available cell before the manual PLMN search is completed by the UE. In some aspects, the determining of whether to camp on the available cell includes decoding a system information block (SIB) or system information (SI) related to a cell suitability criterion of the available cell; determining whether the available cell is suitable based on the SIB or the SI; when the available cell is suitable, suspending the manual PLMN search and decoding other related SIBs or SIs of the available cell; and when the available cell is not suitable, resuming the manual PLMN search.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device having a first SIM and a second SIM and a radio frequency (RF) resource including multiple receive chains and at least one transmit chain may detect, during a connection to a first network associated with the first SIM, a start of a communication activity associated with the second SIM that uses one or more transmit chains and one or more of the receive chains. The wireless communication device may determine whether a carrier frequency of a cell serving the network associated with the first SIM is within a downlink frequency range supported by an unused receive chain of the RF resource. If not, the wireless communication device may identify a neighbor cell of the first network with a carrier frequency within a downlink frequency range supported by an unused receive chain of the RF resource, and attempt to camp the first SIM on that neighbor cell.
Abstract:
A method for performing cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes monitoring one or more neighbor cells of a same radio access technology as a serving cell while camped on the serving cell. The method also includes determining that reselection criteria is met for a target cell. The method further includes starting a reselection timer for the target cell. The method additionally includes determining whether to perform reselection to the target cell based on a target cell signal to noise ratio (SNR) and a serving cell SNR.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for system acquisition at a mobile device. A scan list including a plurality of entries may be stored at the mobile device. Each entry may include at least one connection parameter for connecting to a cellular system associated with the entry. A connection may be established with a target cellular system at the mobile device. A connection time with the target cellular system may be measured at the mobile device. A time-based entry including at least one connection parameter for the target cellular system may be added to the scan list based at least in part on the measured connection time with the target cellular system. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
